discount air tickets? Interested in Los Angeles to Central
America. I am also interested in possibly an around the
world ticket. Recommendations appreciated!!

The Central American Airpass can be a good deal. Go to http:/
    /www.wonderlink.com/exito/airpasses.html
The travel section in the Sunday LA Times often has deals.
The best ones are usually for 30 days max. San Jose, Costa
Rica seems to be the cheapest...more competition.

check out the local colleges and universities in your area,
many have travel agencies on campus and offer a 'student
rate' on airline tickets. The companies generally assume
that you are a student if you walk into a campus agency, so
it really doesn't matter if you are a student or not.

If you know anyone who works for an airline you can ask
them for a ticket. Airline employees get 3 free roundtrip
tickets a month to any destination their employer flies to.
The only drawback is that if a flight is completely booked
you might end up waiting all night for a flight with extra
    seats.
    Good luck
