we are students studying in guatemala city, currently doing
some field work in antigua (during semana santa!)
we need to find info primarily on the social space and
social structure of antigua
- who lives in antigua (social classes)?
- where/ what parts do they live in?
- what do they do (occupation)?
- how has the rise in tourism affected the city?
- also any general historical info would be great
if anyone has any ideas on any of this stuff it would be
GREATLY appreciated!!
or if you know of any great sources
thanks so much!

I wish I could help you but no current contacts at any of the
appropriate universities or ministeries. If you publish your
results I really would like to be able to see them. Sounds
    like a fascinating project.

While you are here, stop by and we can talk.
VISION 3a. Ave Norte #3 (behind the cathedral)-
We can look at your questions and see what info I have.
Also, check out CIRMA on 4a. Calle Oriente (corner of 4
calle and 3 avenida) for some info.
The best way to get info is to talk with locals and walk
    around...
sounds like a great project -

You have to contact the social dept. in Universidad Landivar
and/or Universidad Fco. Marroquin, they will even be
interested in the results and help you with logistics, also
try to contact Inguat: they should be the most interested in
knowing what is happening in Antigua, and would have to give
you all the support you need, remenber is a goverment run
office, so it can be hard to find the right person to talk
to. if you want the name and tel. for Landivar I can help,
It is 2 blocks from my house, and I go once a week.
In any case good luck with your big project

  4. something else Added by: Luis (lfprieto@mailexcite.com)

both Landivar and Marroquin Universities have a tourist
administration and bla bla something careers, try to talk to
teachers, maybe they can ask their students to do the same
reseach project... it is a win win situation for both
parties, by the way I thought you lived in Antigua and not
here in the city, good luck
