I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, but is
anyone aware of whether dolphin swimming can be done in
Hawaii? I will be on the island of Maui this summer. I
hope someone knows something about this . . . .

The only place I know of was the Waikaloa Resort on the
north Kona coast of the Big Island.

i assume and hope you mean wild encounters. there are no
captive dolphins on maui. which means chances of actually
swimming "with' them are slim, but to see some in the wild,
try the sea kayak trips (i forget the outfitter, but pick up
the only kayaking brochure at the airport)that leave from
the south end of the island; we saw many at a distance.
also take the blue water rafting trip; on ours, a spinner
dolphin jumped up and spun around right in front of us : )
also a company called eco-tours runs a trip to lanai with a
high probability of seeing dolphins; can't remember whether
getting in the water is allowed. if you want to try swiming
among them, enter the water quietly and clasp your hands
underneath you as you swim; flailing and thrashing will
    scare them away for sure.
