Hi there,
SORRY TO REPEAT A QUESTION THAT GETS ASKED ALL THE
TIME.......BUT........I'M FLYING OUT TO PERTH IN JULY AND
HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR THE CHEAPEST FLIGHT.
I CAME ACROSS 'Royal Brunei Airlines' London-Perth RETURN
ú499
Do you guys know what they're like? Is the cheapest option
always the best? Is it worth spending ú700 for a better,
direct flight? DOES ANYONE GIVE A *?~!!
Any useful advice welcome. Cheers!!!

    Hi Travelling Pom,
This ú499 flight is a very cheap one, and probably not much.
I think it must either have a very bad service, or a very
    long transfer time.
In one week, I will be flying from Amsterdam to Perth and I
could choose between â 1850,- (about ú550, with Garuda) and
â 2150,- (about ú640, with British Airways). With the
cheapest one I would have had to wait for TEN hours in
Dempasar (from 1700h till 0300!!) and arrived in Perth at
    0150h. I'm taking the â2150,- flight with a one and a half
hour transfer time in London in the morning and an arrival
in Perth at 1410h, and believe me, that is certainly worth
    my â 300,- !!
    cheers, Emmy
ps: I'm interested about what you are going to do in
    Ausralia. Interested also? mail me.

Royal Brunei is an excellent airline, they carry the Sultan himself as well.
They will not serve alcohol to you on the plane due to the strict Muslim faith that envelopes Brunei, however they will supply mixers for your duty free.
For the savings in cost, go Royal Brunei.

There is nothing wrong with this airline. You have a good
price so go for it! I doubt that you will find anything
    cheaper.

From my travel experience they are a good airline, and sounds cheap as all the others said but bear in mind going on a milkrun route sometimes all the stopping and starting and tranfers etc,etc can start to wear thin sometimes and it 's worth getting a more direct trip. I'm from Australia and I hope you enjoy our country and have a great time.

They are Ok except they use Old Lockhead Tristar planes.
    Good luck.

hmm tristars.... didn't they have that problem with the
engine mounted on the tail falling off ??
not the the sultan would be short of a USD or two !

My ex husband is an aircraft engineer and he often made
very unfavourable comments about 2 airlines - Royal Brunei
and Garuda. I was never allowed to fly them. Does this
answer you question? They don't serve alcohol either!

I have taken Royal Brunei on 2 occasions and have never had
any problems with them. On the most recent occasion, I flew
    them from Singapore to London.
I may be wrong, but I think your flight routing would be
    London-Dubai-Singapore-Brunei-Perth. Their planes are quite
nicely maintained, they fly B767s on their long haul routes.
I wouldn't hesitate to fly them again, if the fare is good.

I flew Royal Brunei from Brisbane-Brunei-bangkok and back a
couple of years ago. As mentioned they don't serve grog but
don't let that hold you back. I was quite happy to save
$300 on the fare and pay $40 for a bottle of Chivas. The
attendants were very helpful and friendly and the landings
smooth (my least favourite part!). The only drama we had
was that if the youth hostels full you're looking at at
least $70 for overnight accommodation if you are unfortunate
enough to have to stay overnight. It's fairly dull in
Brunei but the airline is great!! Best of luck. Steve from
    Brisbane.
