Can anyone recommend a good place to stay in Tonga in
october? I'd like a nice beach with good snorkeling plus
good walks around the area. Thanks in advance!

The best I have come across, although a little expesive is
The Tongan Beach Resort on the Vava'u Islands.
There are 12 huts on the edge of the lagoon, and that is it.
So you are kind of dependent upon them for food, which I
    might add is FIRST CLASS.
The snorkelling and diving is great. You will have the added
bonus of the whale calving season. This is towards the end
of the season, the whales start to head south end October to
    beginning of November.

Have a look at the official web site at

    or Tonga Online at http://www.tongaonline.com/
My recommendation for the main island of Tongatapu, would
    be the Good Samaritan Inn.
I've been there several times (but I stay with the in-laws
    while there).
