Can anyone tell me if New Zealand permanent residents (not
citizens) can live and work in Australia without any type
of Australian visa? Thanks for any info...

Afraid not. Australian permenant residents are allowed to
work, live, collect the dole in NZ but not the other way
around. I'm NZ permenant resident and I can not "work" here.
The last time I spoke to immigration here they told me that I
could get PR status here for 1500$....which I don't have, I
don't plan on staying much longer, but if you are married to
a kiwi and planning on moving here it would be worth it.
    hope this helps

Why would ANY Australian ever choose to live or work in NZ?
It is such a rarity and so many Kiwis choose to migrate to
Australia so the NZ govt is desperate to stop this one way
traffic out of NZ. It is also the reason that NZ doesn't
insist on visas from most countries and Australia requires
them from everyone. The world wants to come to Australia.
    Not New Zealand.
