Well I would like to think Canada because of the beauty,
safety and diversity.
Italy comes in second.
every countrie has positive things.
for frieenddly people , it has to be the
phillipines.........
where the rain mainly falls on the plain.
For travellers, Indonesia has great cultural diversity,
amazing landscapes, great food, super inexpensive
accomodation and warm and generous people. Negatives: the
politics suck, driving is heartstopping, and the heat in
the cities can be unbearable.
Italy...for the style, great food, great culture, great
cars, and plenty to see. p.s. and no! I'm not italian!
But the best country to travel to is Syria. Unbelievable
old cultures and unbelievable friendly people. The traveler
is pampered and the atmosphere is like in 1001 nights. It is
also the safest countrie I have been to.
Wanting to go on a worldtrip for many years, finally it
happened in 1995. I have read about losts of countries but
one stayed always in mind, making me daydream.
AUSTRALIA is tha one for me. I have travelled there for a
mere 4 month which is far to short, so this year I'll go
again. Oh yes, why do I think this? Great people, landscape
in any form, great beer and wine, cities as well as outback.
Australia hit me right in my hart and it will stay there
for ever.
if you haven't been in Antigua (Guatemala)consider it.
It's a lovely place whit great simple human people, so quiet
if you enjoy that. Think about that is a little pice of the
country and the diversity of pictures that you can found
there (TIKAL and the nearest of the maya culture).
I fell in love with France. The beauty, the culture, the history, and of course the people (if you can speak French they treat you wonderfully!) And because I'm Canadian that would have to be second! Follow by Switzerland!
Friendliest People-Tonga or Fiji
Great Scenery-Tahiti or New Zealand
Retirement Spot-Costa Rica
Best Beaches-Australia
New Zealand - beautiful countryside, nice and friendly
people :-)
I'd have to say Canada. I emigrated here.
Travelled extensviely throughout the U.K. and
loved it but pricey and overcrowded. Visit
Australia and loved it too but Australians
as nice as they are Australians and the gents
have a long way to go before recognizing
women's equality blah, blah, blah. Cuba -loved
it too. Unusual, friendly people, beautiful
beaches but as you can imagine getting around
is a problem. But Canada well it's not the USA
okay. It definately has its own culture, identify.
It is so immense. Begin in St.John's, Newfoundland.
Take the boat to Sydney, Nova Scotia and travel down
to Halifax. Down the coast and then move on to
PEI, Quebec City (a must!), Montreal, Ottawa,
Toronto, Niagara Falls (may be), take the train
from Toronto across Canada to the Rockies.
Unbelievable expanse - down to Vancouver and over
to Victoria. Take in some of the huge national
parks - Algonquin Park in Ontario, Banff National
Park in Alberta. Take a train from Calgary to
Jasper. Take a boat ride on the St.Lawrence and
view the 1000 Islands at Gananoque. Take in an
Indian Village in Midland, Ontario. There's
just so much to see and unlike the States gun licensing
is fairly strick and so it feels safe.
That's all.
Been there, done that, got the pictures but leaving Oz the second time I was wondering when I'd be arriving for the third time...
It's not fair though, being a continent on it's own, with the diversity that comes with its size, Oz should be excluded from this contest.
What's next best??? HOME! The Netherlands that is and although it's not fair again, I'd like to include the Dutch Antilles as well. A 12 hour flight but still a part of the Dutch Kingdom!
I'd love to see Syria though!
I would give anything to visit Nepal again. The people, the
scenery, it was fantastic!
SARAWAK, east malaysia.....I will say no more, just go and
find out for yourself
italy say no more..
Burma for his people, cambodia for the temples, India for
the "unique", Belgium for the beers..., Australia for the
space, bounty island for the taste of paradise..., Nepal for
the Montains, Thailand for the food..,
Happy travels!
...for the ice...!
TONGA!!! The most friendly people. Marquesas for the most
beautiful scenery, Costa Rica for a fine place to retire,
and the uninhabited island of Suwarrow in the S, Pacific
for solitude.
N. Kelly
Screwed politically and all that but very beautiful. Also,
England, Zimbabwe, Indonesia....
Magical, mythical and out of this world (and I wasnt
tripping either.....)
I'm a died-in-the-wool Aussie - it will always be my
favourite. I live in the US which has its share of
beautiful places. BUT I loved Denmark - clean, old-world,
friendly people, wonderful food, incredible beer.
Italy would have to be the best country i've been to so
far...and i've been to a few! You can visit so many
different cities all in the one country - Florence, Venice,
Rome, Verona, Bologna, Naples, and so on and on...and then
the food and handcrafts, cars, clothes, it never ends!!!
geez...maybe I should apply to work as the CEO of the
Italian Tourist Board!
New Zealnd is very beautiful, very modern but.......every
country, and every people is special....beauty is in the
eye of the beholder.
THERE CAN BE NO DOUBT THAT NEW ZEALAND IS BY FAR THE MOST
BEATIFUL COUNTRY IN WORLD AND ALSO HAS THE FRIENDLIEST
PEOPLE TO BOOT!

Canada for the 1999 Stanley Cup playoffs even though the
Flames are out (this is an ice hockey reference for all you
tropical people)!
Overall, I fell in love with Portugal while I was there;
the architecture, the history, the beaches in the south.
The Irish win the friendliest award. However, I don't hit
the South Pacific until next January (at least 10 months in
Aus and for sure a trip to NZ and Thailand) so we'll see
what the standings are then.
Australia. No worries...
A for amazing landscapes
u for unusual

l for Live and let live

In Malaysia. Half way through trip stumbled onto this
heaven on earth paradise. Small Island must stress. In Oz
now and it ain't a patch on it. Beaches, snorkelling and
fucking different too. Beautiful.
Enough said!
Rarotonga, Cook Islands!
its still the best even if everyone has discovered it. Koh
Samui and Koh Phi Phi in the 80's were sure paradise

Lamu Island off the coast of northern Kenya. Paradise on
earth.
New York on a rainy day because its so goddamned
awful...but if you close your eyes, you might just catch a
glimmer of New Zealand in your heart.
New Zealand and Canada for scenery and sports,Europe for
culture and style!
No contest really...
Fascinating places, friendly people, interesting culture and
history, awesome beaches, affordable. Kicked ass over Europe
and was a third the price. ISRAEL for pure unadulterated
history..its incredible.
