Kangaroo Town

For all you nternational tourists comming to Australia, you
should consider Kangaroo Town, just south of Alice Springs.
Built in 1692, this quaint town served as a centre for
breaking in wild kangaroos for racing. However, it soon
transformed itself into a tourist town as the market for
racing kangaroos soon died out. However, there is still a
thriving racing herd of kangaroos based just outside the
town gate that are put on the local track every third sunday
of the month. There is an Inn run by Big Bertha, an
immigrant from Lithuania in the early stages of the century.
Just three dollars Australian a night, there is a nightly
kangaroo dance in which locals pair up with their favourite
racer. Watch out, because the last time a tourist brought
meat - especially kangaroo meat - in with them to Kangaroo
Town, the Kangaroos ran amuck for three days in fright ab\nd
disgust. Come in winter as in summer temperatures reach 100
degrees celcius and the residents move to their underground
caves for six months. However, travellers in early June run
the risk of being trampled to death in the annual Kangaroo
charge down main street.

Hope to see you there!!!!
