Anyone got any info re Nhulunbuy on the Gove Peninsular.
I'm thinking of flying there from Darwin, but not sure if
there is any backpacker accommodation and transport, or
hiring a car is the only way to travel there. Can anyone
help? What are the "must sees"?

Nhulunbuy is basically there for only one reason,Bauxite
mining.I recently spent a couple of weeks there on a yacht
with a few problems to sort out. I,m not sure if there is
any backpackers there, and about hiring a car,if you can you
won't be able to drive anywhere out of town unless you have
the correct permits as it is all Aboriginal land.Gove
harbour is very pretty and the people were more than
helpful but I wouldn't recommend going there.
    SORRY.....
