When I was in Arusha I got swindled by Star Tours... it's a
long story but it involves a counterfeit $100 bill. Anyway,
    stay awa

Don't know if this counts as a 'good' tour operator, but I
am doing a Kili climb with Acacia Expeditions and departing
from Arusha in August. They officially depart from Nairobi
but you can join up at Arusha.

  4. Out of Moshi? Added by: Arie

I climbed Kili on the Marangu route with a Moshi based company called TransKibo tours. They are located in the YMCA and they are very reliable. Nice people looking to give you a good time on that mountain. I can recommended them.
As I climbed Kili with a friend, and my friend didn't make it ti the top (due to ALS) and got pretty frustrated, he tried it again last year but now in 6 instead of 5 days. He walked up in a breeze, he told me. He went with Akaro Tours from Moshi and thought they were even better than TransKibo.
Anyway, Moshi is the gateway to Kili, not Arusha. And since -at least for the coca cola route- you have to pass Moshi on your way to the gate anyway, why don't you arange it from there? You certainly do not have the hassles as in Arusha at the IACC building (as that is what normal tourists would refer to as a warzone).
    Just me thought, though.

  5. Tropical Tours Added by: S

We did the Machame route with Tropical Tours last year,
summitting on the 5th of July. It was a great trip. They
are located near the clock tower in Arusha.
