Tunesia, Atlas or desert?

Arriving in Monastir I got about one week to spend in
Tunesia. I thought about doing some hicking in the Atlas
mountains or a desert trip in the south. Somebody who did
one of this recently or any other recommendations?
Tanks in advance!

The Atlas are in Morocco. Tunisian Mts. are in the far
north. By default, you'll be doing desert visits, which is
OK. If you're a beach person, you'll be landing near some
excellent beaches & a week is about enough time to chill
    out. bob

Sorry Bob, according to my map the montains in the
northwest of Tunisia are the most easterly of the Atlas
    mountain range.
    Thanks for reply! Gert
