The snow might be gone for 1999, but you can ski in Bulgaria
for USD3 per day. When I was there (mid march to april
1999) we had awesome snow. The terrain was not the
greatest, but the snow.... Send me an e.mail
(samg@minters.com.au) and I can tell you more. We arranged
a pretty good way to see the country and pay local prices
(note: 'foreigner' lift tickets cost USD20).
Not quite Europe but very cheap. Lift tickets USD1.50-3
depending on the resort. Huge resorts with very few people =
no lines. Accomadation + food +gear hire (new gear) +lift
tickets = $15. We were there in February and the snow was
great. Well worth it.
Troy - are the slopes segregated as between sexes? My
understanding is that they are.
Note: I think that Iran would be better terrain than
Bulgaria.
Try Liptovsky Mikulas (sic?) in Slovakia. Can't remember
exact prices but bloody cheap, friendly people, great pubs
and beautiful women (if that interests you). When it snows
(which it does up to Feb/Mar) it is brilliant. You can live
on about $25AUS a day, inclusive of everything.
The slopes are only segregated on Friday (their weekend).
The rest of the time their are just two lines for the same
lift. The female line moves faster.
