Imagine the Universe!

Jim Lochner's Featured Image

Jim chose this map of Antarctica as his featured image. Besides black hole candidates, Jim really likes Antarctica. He has a HUGE poster of the continent on his office wall, and every Antarctica poster calendar dating back to the early 1990s. This is not to say that he would give up a limb to go there, but he would really really like to see those giant ice flows, the penguins (but not the polar bears, which are only found in the North Pole), oh yes, the constellations. With no lights around and awfully long nights (in the winter months), the view would be pretty spectacular! Of course it is also mighty cold, but then again, so is outer space. Maybe there is some connection after all.
