The Question
(Submitted May 05, 1997)
My students in 4th and 5th grade are wanting to build a cardboard replica of
the Friendship 7 capsule which John Glenn went into space with. We need to know
its dimensions inside and out. It would also be helpful to know what it was like
on the inside so we could see what it felt like to sit in the capsule like
John Glenn did. Would you e-mail me that information or tell what resources
would have that information?
The Answer
The best place for this information would be the National Air and Space
Museum. They have a web site at http://www.nasm.si.edu
and they even have links to
places where you can ask questions!! (there is also a page of frequently
asked questions which should be perused FIRST, of course, just like we
have!).
Since the capsule is actually THERE, they are really the best source for
this info.
