The Question
(Submitted January 29, 1997)
Hello, I am 4 years old and I would like to know why space is black.
Thank you for taking the time to answer me. (My auntie is typing this for me)
The Answer
This is a very good question!
Do you know why the sky is bright and blue during the day? It's because
the Sun is shining on the air, so the air becomes bright.
The sun is shining in space too, but there is no air for the light to
bounce off of in space. That's why space is black.
