The Question
(Submitted December 04, 1996)
I would like to know which constellation is directly behind the Sun when
the Sun rises ?
The Answer
The constellation which the Sun is in varies from month to month
as the sun moves in the sky. In December, the Sun is in Sagittarius,
while in June it's in Taurus. The magazines Sky & Telescope and Astronomy
Magazine each have a plot of the position of the Sun on the sky for that
month's issue. You should be able to use that to answer your question
for whatever date you are interested in.
