The Softimage SISDK Workshop will be held at Microsoft this
Friday February 23rd 1996. It will offer a forum for
discussion and will showcase our new SAAPHIRE technology with
demonstrations and presentations.
Softimage will also announce a new 3rd party Developers
Program to extend our excellent service and support
to a much wider developer audience.
Softimage® | SDK
The Softimage® | SDK is Softimage's next-generation API
toolkit, a development environment which allows developers to
create their own plug-ins and special effects. Incorporating three
different toolkits, the SDK provides unparalleled flexibility
for both third-party and in-house developers.
SAAPHIRE
Softimage Advanced API for Relations and Elements
One of the largest and most advanced 3D API's yet introduced,
SAAPHIRE will set a new standard for 3D tool development by providing
an interface which allows direct access to the Softimage | 3D
modeling, animation, and render pipelines. Through the use of
DSO (Dynamically Linked Objects) on SGI and DLL's (Dynamically
Linked Libraries) on NT, developers can quickly develop powerful,
cross-platform plug-ins with the native Softimage toolset.
mental ray Developer's Kit
The mental ray Developer's Kit allows the creation of shaders
and render-time custom effects which range from simple material/texture
mapping to advanced effects such as displacement mapping and volumic
lights. Combined with mental ray's parallelized rendering ability,
mental ray sets a new standard for high-quality visual effects.
Channels Developer's Kit
The Channels Dev Kit allows quick and easy creation of hardware
and motion control interfaces for Softimage. Using technology
which lies at the heart of our own Virtual Theatre, developers
can enable real-time motion capture and motion control for their
devices through the use of Channels' advanced memory management.
Stay tuned for futher information and updates on the Softimage
Developer's Program.
