iMac Inspired Point of Sale Device

U.S. Netcom has announced a translucent Point of Sale Terminal that was inspired by the design of the iMac. The IC eCommerce K23 is more than just a pretty face. It's been designed to help visually challenged consumers get what they pay for.
U.S. Netcom recognized early on that POS terminal manufacturers were completely ignoring the Americans with Disabilities Act. We determined this was the case because the perception is that POS terminals are merchant operated. While it is true that the POS terminal transaction is initiated and terminated by the merchant, that leaves a lot of neglect in between.
IC eCommerce is designed to facilitate ease of use by, and provide security for all disabled people. Its most advanced features are geared toward the blind and visually impaired who represent 8 million adult [US] consumers.
The IC eCommerce features an ADA compliant keypad features raised characters and high contrast keys for the visually impaired. These features allow the consumer to provide person input to the keypad instead of having to speak their personal identification numbers out loud. Additionally, at the end of each transaction, the device verbally "speaks" the total transaction amount, virtually eliminating the possibility of fraudulent use of the consumer's information during that particular transaction.
