During a trip to the MacWorld Exposition in San Francisco California,
I happened to meet some of the designers of the Macintosh computer.
One of these developers was Andy Hertzfeld who designed the System and
part of the Finder. He and I talked for quite some time and he gave
me this pin that he had on his backpack. I have no idea what the
history of this pin is but I have always liked it.

Motorola introduced the PowerPC 68040 chip as a successor to the popular 68030 chip. During a media extravaganza at a MacWorld Exposition in San Francisco, Motorola handed out these pins to commemorate the event. I graciously accepted this pin to place along side the Oh Thirty! pin that I had gotten some time before. |
In January 1984, the Macintosh was introduced to the public during the
Super Bowl with a single commercial. The commercial showed a woman
hammer thrower tossing a hammer at a large screen representing Big
Brother. The commercial and the computer was in instant success. I
received this pin in December 1983 while being trained on this new
computer.

This pin was produced for Apple International Breifing Center that was located in the (now a bank) building on the corner of DeAnza Blvd and Steven's Creek Blvd. in Cupertino, CA. This - at the time - was the International headquarters building where Mike Spindler resided along with the Breifing Center. This was just before Mike was named CEO. These pins were given to International Visitors to the Center. |
The Mickey's Mac Club pin was made for members of the Macintoch Users' Group at The Walt Disney Studios and Walt Disney Imagineering back in 1991. It was designed and produced by Bruce Gordon, Creative Director for Walt Disney Imagineering. We got a lot of flack from the studio brass about associating the mouse with a commercial product and were forced to change the name (to The Mac Club) and stop giving out the pins. I know all this as I was on the board of the club in 1991 when I worked at the studios.
