MICROSOFT WORD VERSION
The Microsoft Word version, which is the preferred version for printout, numbers approximately 1100 pages and was written using Word 98. All files are formatted for double-sided greyscale printout on US Letter size paper. Approximately 550 US Letter size sheets are required. Before printing, please confirm that the following settings have been preserved:
Paper Size: US Letter.
Orientation: Portrait.
Reduce/Enlarge: 80%.
Margins: Top 2.5cm, Bottom 3.0cm, Inside 2.5cm, Outside 2.5cm.
Gutter: 1.75cm
Mirror Margins: On.
Header From Edge: 1.25cm.
Footer From Edge: 1.75cm.
Tabs: 0.42cm.
Fonts required are Times, Monaco, Arial Narrow, and Charcoal.
Printout on A4 size paper is also satisfactory using the above settings. Accordingly, to preserve the original pagination, A4 users should not change the US Letter setting in the Page Setup... dialog.

PDF VERSION
The PDF version numbers approximately 1100 pages and was created with Adobe Acrobat 4.0 using the Microsoft Word version files as the source. It is thus formatted for US Letter size paper; however, printout on A4 size paper is satisfactory.
Adobe Acrobat Reader 3.0 or later is required. Please ensure that the Smooth Text and Images option in Acrobat Reader's General Preferences is selected.
To keep download size to a minimum, only the Arial Narrow and Monaco fonts were embedded during PDF file creation. Accordingly, for a true rendition of the original documents, the fonts Times and Charcoal should be installed on your system.
If you download the stuffed version and find that part of the downloaded and unstuffed file is corrupt, try unstuffing the file again, but this time with the Cross Platform setting in Stuffit Expander's Preferences set to Never.
If you elect to download the non-stuffed version, clicking the associated Download button takes you to the "macc-carbon-pdf-nonstuffed" directory on the FTP server. You can download the individual chapter files from there by dragging them to your desktop. If you wish to download all chapters and the preface at once, and you are using Internet Explorer, click "macintosh-c" at "Path:" to go to that directory, and then drag "macc-carbon-pdf-nonstuffed" to your desktop.

DEMONSTRATION PROGRAMS
Demonstration programs are associated with all chapters except Chapters 5 and 9. The demonstration program package includes all required CodeWarrior project and source code files, all required Resorcerer resource files, and the document files used by some of the demonstration programs.
The demonstration programs were created using Metrowerks CodeWarrior Pro 6.2. Resource files were created using Resorcerer Versions 2.2 and 2.4.
If you download using the first Download button and have trouble un-stuffing the files, try downloading the non-binhexed version using the second Download button.
