Raidon releases new HyBrid RunnerRs

Raidon (http://www.raidon.com.tw) is releasing two new generations of its HyBrid RunneR, the internal storage devices iH1010 and iH2420. The RAIDON HyBrid RunneR, is a two drive, tray-less internal array that delivers performance from solid state drives while automatically backing up an SSD to a 2.5-inch or 3.5-inch hard drive.

The function of the Hybrid RunneR is to utilize part of the capacity of an HDD, identical capacity to SSD and backup from the beginning sector of HDD, to backup data in the event of an SSD failure. Although a sector of the HDD is used as backup area of SSD, the remaining capacity of the HDD is still available as extended data storage.

The advantage of this technology is that the user gets the speed of the latest SSD read/write performance with the backup protection provided by today’s latest spindled 2.5-inch and 3.5-inch HDDs, according to the folks at Raidon. For example, if the read and write performance of SSD is 250MB/second and 200MB/second, the HyBrid RunneR can efficiently bursts out the read and write performance of SSD, instead of only emphasize on the read performance from SSD.

There are two models from HyBrid RunneR. The iH2420 is a 3.5-inch form factor that features one 2.5-inch SSD and one 2.5-inch HDD; it's currently available. The iH1010 fits in a 5.25-inch CD-ROM bay that accommodates one 2.5-inch SSD and one 3.5-inch HDD. It will be available in the third quarter of the year. Contact Raidon for pricing.
