Conduit - Installation

Installation

  1. Unpack the file to a directory using WinZip® or StuffIt® or another decompression program.

  2. IMPORTANT:
    If you have installed Version 0.81 or prior of Dive Log on your Palm. You have to install Aqua DiveLog for Palm OS (Ver. 0.90) or later to your Palm and start it at least once and HotSync before installing the Conduit.

  3. JAVA JAR file
    Since version 0.81 the conduit is distributed as JAVA Archive file (JAR). This means all JAVA classes are packed into this one file and you can safely delete the following subdirectories (if you have an old installation):
    aquadivelog\com and aquadivelog\divelog.

  4. Configure the Aqua DiveLog for Palm OS / Conduit
    Open the divelog.ini file with your favored editor (e.g. Notepad).
    Set the following entries according to your system.


    Usually, you just have to replace "...USER..." with your Palm username.

  5. Start divelog_conduit.bat

    enter java -jar conduit.jar into the command console.

All this files and directories have to exist before the Condiut can be started.

Update from Dive Log 0.81

If you have Dive Log version 0.81 or prior installed on your Palm PDA you have to update the database to the new Aqua DiveLog 0.90 format.
The update is done automatically by the new version of Dive Log if it finds an old database at startup. This means, to update your old database to be compatible with the Conduit you have to:
  1. install the new Aqua DiveLog to the Palm (do not delete the old Aqua Palm!)
  2. start the new Aqua DiveLog to update the database
  3. HotSync to save the new database to the desktop
