project an environment onto a cylinder (cylenv);
draw an environment map (drawenv);
expand an environment map by a factor of 2 (envexpand);
reduce an environment map by a factor of 2 (envreduce);
convert from a fisheye projection to an environment map (fromfish);
convert from a mercator projection to an environment map (frommerc);
make spherical from cubical env map by rendering reflective sphere (sphereenv);
and/or create a fish-eye view of an environment map (tofish);

Project a cubical environment onto a cylinder.
cylenv makes a cylindrical projection from a cubical environment map.

Try:

cylenv 256 1 ../128env/cafe.env /usr/tmp/t.rgb
ipaste /usr/tmp/t.rgb

Draw an environment map.
Let's you pan and tile the camera around. This texture mapping is done in sw.

drawenv uses software texture mapping to let you pan a camera around in a cubical environmant map. This should be rewritten to use the texturing hardware.

Try:

drawenv ../128env/cafe.env

Expand an environment map by a factor of 2.
envexpand increases the size of a cubical environment map by a factor of two.

Try:

envexpand ../128env/cafe.env /usr/tmp/t.env
ipaste /usr/tmp/t.env

Reduce an environment map by a factor of 2.
envreduce decreases the size of a cubical environment map by a factor of two.

Try:

envreduce ../128env/cafe.env /usr/tmp/t.env
ipaste /usr/tmp/t.env

Convert from a fisheye projection to an environment map.
fromfish creates a cubical environment map from a 180 degree fish eye picture.

Try:

fromfish 256 1 fish180.fish fish180.env

Convert from a mercator projection to an environment map.
frommerc converts a mercator projection into a cubical environment map.

Try:

frommerc 256 1 merc.rgb cube.env

Make a spherical environment map from a cubical env map by rendering a reflective sphere.
sphereenv makes a spherical environment map from a cubical by rendering a reflective sphere.

Try:

sphereenv 256 1 ../128env/cafe.env sphere.sph -s

Create a fish-eye view of an environment map.
tofish creates a fisheye view of a cubical environment map.

Try:

tofish 256 1 ../128env/cafe.env fish.fish 180
