Alternative Energy All Sources

Welcome to Alternative Energy: solutions to our energy needs.

This webpage is dedicated to researching alternatives to fossil fuels for generating power. Not only are fossil fuels harmful to the environment, they also are a limited resource because they are not renewable. There are 6 Billion people in the world and growing. Our energy needs will increase dramatically in the future as more people use more and more technology. We need to seek alternatives to our energy needs in order to preserve the same quality of life we enjoy. I will discuss three alternatives (in depth) and a few other alternatives (in summary) to fossil fuels including their pros and cons. The alternatives I will discuss in depth are: Nuclear power, Solar power, and Wind power.

Alternative Energy Summary

The table below has a quick summary on the alternative energy options.

Comparison of Energy Sources
Source Fuel Renewable When can it Generate Power By-products
fossil fuels oil and coal no 24/7 carbon dioxide - greenhouse gases
wind powered by wind (no cost) yes only works when the wind is blowing hard enough none (not including production waste)
solar powered by the sun (no cost) yes only works when the sun is out and there are no clouds none (not including production waste)
