CDA Goes to Washington

by Adam C. Engst

CDA Goes to Washington -- The U.S. Supreme Court has begun hearings on the Communications Decency Act. I won't pretend to analyze the results of the initial oral arguments, but I found reading the complete transcript to be fascinating. If you're interested in how the Supreme Court justices queried the attorneys for both sides, check it out at the URL below. If you haven't followed the issue over the last two years, the Communications Decency Act (passed as part of the Telecommunications Act of 1996) attempts to limit "patently offensive" material on the Internet as defined by local community standards (see TidBITS-315).
