Welcome to PKZIP for Windows Installation!!  Using PKWARE's 
self-extractor (PKSFX) makes installing PKZIP for Windows both
easy and versatile. 
 
The following is a description of the items in the PKSFX dialog
that are relevant to installing PKZIP for Windows:
 
 
EXTRACT TO:
 
This box contains the directory into which PKZIP for Windows 
will be installed. You may change this directory by clicking 
on a directory in the box that appears below the Extract To
box or manually typing in a destination directory path.
 
 
DRIVES:
 
Use this drop-down list to select a destination drive for
installing the programs and files for PKZIP for Windows. 
 
 
AVAILABLE:
 
Displays the amount of disk space (in kilobytes) available on the
current drive.
 
 
REQUIRED:
 
Displays the amount of space (in kilobytes) needed to install
PKZIP for Windows. 
 
 
EXTRACTED:
 
Displays the amount of data (in kilobytes) that has been
extracted during the installation process. (This item is
grayed out until you begin the installation process)
 
 
WARNINGS:
 
Displays the number of warnings encountered during the 
installation process. (This item is grayed out until you
begin the installation process)
 
 
DISPLAY MESSAGES:
      
Click on this checkbox if you want PKSFX to display 
messages for any warnings that might occur during installation. 
Regardless of whether this item is checked, PKSFX will always
display "error" messages.
 
 
CREATE PROGRAM GROUP(S):
 
Click on this checkbox if you want PKSFX to create a program 
group for PKZIP for Windows. If you are installing over an
existing version of PKZIP for Windows we suggest that you 
uncheck this checkbox to avoid conflicts with your existing
configuration settings. As an alternative, you may wish to
uninstall the existing version of PKZIP for Windows before
installing the newer version of PKZIP for Windows. 
 
 
REGISTER EXTENSION(S): ZIP
 
Click on this checkbox if you want PKSFX to register the .ZIP 
extension for use with PKZIP for Windows. If you are installing 
over an existing version of PKZIP for Windows we suggest that
you uncheck this checkbox to avoid conflicts with your existing
configuration settings. As an alternative, you may wish to 
uninstall the existing version of PKZIP for Windows before
installing the newer version of PKZIP for Windows.  
 
 
OVERWRITE:
 
This area allows you to control whether or not to overwrite 
files on your hard drive with files you are extracting during 
installation.  
 
NOTE: You would only need this feature if you had previously 
      installed a different version of PKZIP for Windows, or 
      if you had files on your system that coincidentally had the 
      same names as the files being extracted.
 
 
Prompt: Select this radio button if you want PKSFX to prompt you
        before overwriting an existing file with the same name.
 
Always: Select this radio button if you want PKSFX to automatically
        overwrite files with the same name. If you select this
        option, you will not be prompted to overwrite files. 
 
Never:  Select this radio button if you do not want PKSFX to 
        overwrite files with the same name. If you select this
        option, existing files with the same name will never
        be overwritten. 
 
 
EXTRACT BUTTON
 
Click on this button to install PKZIP for Windows on your system.
 
 
TEST BUTTON
 
Click on this button to verify the integrity of the files before 
installing them onto your system.
 
 
ABOUT BUTTON
 
Click on this button to get general information about PKSFX.
 
 
CANCEL BUTTON
 
Click on this button to cancel the PKZIP for Windows installation.
