  5. Welcome to TuneLand Starring Howie Mandel. This sampler CD 
  6. contains just one of the eight scenes from TuneLand, the
  7. worlds first interactive cartoon. We're sure you'll agree 
  8. that TuneLand is the best interactive title available on 
  9. the PC today. To experience all eight scenes, visit your 
  10. local software dealer or call 7th Level at 214-437-4858.

  14. TuneLand Setup Program
  15.  
  16. The TuneLand Setup Program creates a 7th Level Group in the
  17. Program Manager and installs the following icons:
  18.  
  19.     1. TuneLand
  20.     2. README.TXT
  21.  
  22. This installation places a program file and README.TXT file on
  23. your hard disk. A 7THLEVEL.INI file is also created in your Windows 
  24. directory for use by TuneLand. Disk space required for the files
  25. should not exceed 31000 bytes.

  28. Keyboard Functions
  29.  
  30. The + and - keys provide a convenient means for raising or lowering
  31. the volume. Some sound boards do not support volume control, so
  32. these keys may not function in all cases.

  34. The following key combinations will help you navigate in the sampler:

  36.   SHIFT ESC           Exits directly to Windows
  37.   ESC                 Provides information on purchasing TuneLand
  38.   ESC (second time)   Exits to Windows

  43. While exploring TuneLand, you will find songs, sounds, gags,
  44. jokes, and magic tricks. Oh, and don't forget to look for 
  45. Lil' Howie - he'll be hiding!

  48. TuneLand Common Problems and Solutions
  49.

  51. Problem:
  52.    When I run TuneLand I only get some of the sounds.
  53.  
  54. Solution:
  55.    TuneLand uses both CD Audio and .WAV files for the highest sound 
  56.    quality possible.  In order to hear CD Audio on your system, it is
  57.    required that you have a CD Audio connector between your CD-ROM drive
  58.    and your sound card, and you must have the [MCI] CD Audio driver
  59.    installed in the Windows Control Panel.  The SETUP.EXE, supplied on the
  60.    TuneLand CD, automatically adds (if applicable) the [MCI] CD Audio
  61.    driver for you.  If you do not run SETUP.EXE, you can add the driver
  62.    manually, by doing the following.
  63.    
  64.    1.  Open the Windows Control Panel and select Drivers.
  65.    2.  Click the Add button.
  66.    3.  Select the driver labeled [MCI] CD Audio and click OK.
  67.    4.  Insert the requested Windows diskette and select OK.
  68.    5.  Restart TuneLand and test the sounds.
  69.    If you still are having difficulty, make sure that you have the
  70.    required CD Audio connector between the sound board and the CD-ROM drive.

  73. Problem:
  74.    Some of the TuneLand sounds are louder than others.
  75.  
  76. Solution:
  77.    Because TuneLand uses both CD Audio and .WAV files, it may be necessary
  78.    for you to adjust the CD Audio and .WAV volume for proper balance.
  79.    To adjust the volumes run the mixing software that was provided with your
  80.    sound card (i.e. for the Sound BlasterPro card, the file is called 
  81.    SBPMIXER.EXE) and adjust the volume settings to your personal preference.

  84. Problem:
  85.    When I try to run TuneLand I get the message "TuneLand requires 256 
  86.    colors or more to run".
  87.  
  88. Solution:
  89.    Verify that your video card is capable of running at least 256 colors 
  90.    by checking the documentation for the video card or contacting the 
  91.    manufacturer. Also, check to be sure that you have the correct video 
  92.    driver specified in your Windows setup.

  95. Problem:
  96.    The sound and animation does not seem to be synchronized properly.
  97.  
  98. Solution:
  99.    Make sure that you are running TuneLand on a 386, 25 MHz or better 
  100.    IBM compatible computer with at least 4MB of RAM.  Also, make sure that 
  101.    you do not have any other programs running under Windows while you are 
  102.    running the TuneLand program.

  105. Problem:
  106.    My animation or sound sometimes skips.
  107.  
  108. Solution:
  109.    Make sure that you have at least 4MB of RAM and that you do not have 
  110.    any other programs running under Windows while you are running TuneLand.  
  111.    Also, make sure that an expanded memory manager (such as EMM386, QEMM, 
  112.    or 386MAX)is not reserving memory that Windows and TuneLand will need 
  113.    to run correctly.
