  5. TreeChart is distributed with a number of sample charts and templates. The
  6. samples included may vary from time to time. This document describes those
  7. samples included in the current release.
  8.  
  9. In v1.10, Template Files now normally have a filename extension of
  10. .TCT, to indicate they serve a different purpose to charts (.TCF).

  12. SAMPLE CHARTS

  15. TUTORIAL.TCF
  16.  
  17. The completed Tutorial Organization Chart, as prepared (step-by-step) in
  18. the TreeChart Tutorial (TUTORIAL.WRI - Windows Write format).
  19.  
  20. If you're new to TreeChart, we recommend that you prepare your first
  21. chart by working through this tutorial.

  23. ORG.TCF
  24.  
  25. Organization Chart. Demonstrates using multiple Layouts and marking boxes
  26. as exceptions to the normal Layout rules to illustrate assistants and
  27. shared staff. Also demonstrates creating dummy boxes to frame a set of
  28. boxes. Fit-to-page printing has been selected. We suggest you select
  29. Landscape printing. The imaginary 70-person company illustrated here
  30. was copied from a comparative review of five Organization Charting
  31. programs in the December 17, 1991 issue of PC Magazine (USA).

  33. SYNTAX.TCF
  34.  
  35. Parse tree (as illustrated in section 1.2 of the User Guide).
  36. Demonstrates setting Layout text margins to determine how close to the
  37. text the connecting lines are drawn. Border settings intended for
  38. copying pictures into other documents: a small gap between the 'border'
  39. and the chart, and no actual border rectangle.

  43. Directory tree (as illustrated in section 1.2 of the User Guide).
  44. Demonstrates setting Default Layouts to color-code items listed based
  45. on their level in the hierarchy.

  49. Work Breakdown Structure for House Construction project (as illustrated
  50. in section 1.2 of the User Guide). Demonstrates Default Layouts, and
  51. creating an additional Layout to maintain reasonable box width by
  52. splitting the text into two fields.

  54. MOLLUSCS.TCF
  55.  
  56. Phylogenetic tree of molluscs (a phylum within the Metazoa subkingdom
  57. of the animal kingdom. To suborder level only (there are 75,000
  58. molluscs!). Adapted from a chart in "Marine Life", by David and
  59. Jennifer George, pub 1979 Harrap, London. Suggest Portrait
  60. printing (fit-to-page already set).
