Give all underneath the wheel arches a good clean (scrub all the mud off with a brush if you can - it's cheaper than a new set of wings in a few years time!), do the sills and under the bumpers. Open the doors and boot and give round the hinges a good blast - don't worry about wetting the upholstery too much, it'll dry out overnight. Wet all the bodywork, and THEN put the soap on with a sponge. Doing it this way reduces scratches, as rubbing soap onto cry bodywork rubs all the muck in aswell. Scrub the tyres with the sponge AFTER you've done the bodywork. Get some alloy wheel cleaner and apply it to your wheel trims if they are particularly grubby, but rinse it off quickly or it'll damage the plastic. Give under the bonnet @ clean with some GUNK while you're at it. IF your car is black or metallic, give it a quick leather off.
