  7. == HP PROVIDES FREE INTELLIFONT =================================

  9. Intellifont-for-Windows 3.0 is a combination screen/printer driver 
  10. that is optimized for printing in Windows 3.0 in standard or 
  11. enhanced mode to a LJIII or IIID printer.  The driver generates 
  12. on-the-fly screen fonts in Windows to match the CompuGraphic 
  13. scalable typefaces resident in the LJIII printer family offering 
  14. true WYSIWYG. Also included is an updated version (3.7) of the
  15. LJIII/IIID Windows printer driver.

  17. HP has made the program freely available to Compuserve users that 
  18. download the four files L3WIN3.ZIP and IFW1.ZIP through IFW3.ZIP.

  23. == Q+E FOR ORACLE TO BE ANNOUNCED ===============================

  25. Pioneer Software of Raleigh, NC will announce a version of their
  26. database query program specifically for Oracle at this week's
  27. NetWorld show. Pioneer publishes other editions of Q+E, including
  28. a limited version which is included with the current release of
  29. Microsoft Excel. Q+E is used to query database files and bring the
  30. results into Excel. Supported formats include dBase and others.

  36. == 80586 DETAILS SURFACING ======================================

  38. Information released by Intel Corp. to other manufacturers has
  39. provided details of the upcoming 586 processor chip. Code named
  40. "P5", the next generation of CPU sports a 64 bit internal and
  41. external data path, 66Mhz clock speed, multiple 386-compatible
  42. instruction units, as well as built-in software for diagnostics 
  43. and debugging.

  45. While providing performance four times higher than a 486 at 33MHz,
  46. the 586 also retains backward compatibility with 8088/86 software.
  47. With multiple 386-compatible instruction units built into the chip,
  48. Intel is using the "super scaler" approach now evident in most 
  49. RISC chips. In addition, the 586 is expected to implement dual 8K
  50. caches, one each for data and program instructions.

  52. According to official Intel information, the 586 chip is expected 
  53. to hold between 3 and 5 million transistors. Intel officials
  54. confirmed that the 586 will be available in computer systems "next
  55. year".

  60. Wordstar has bought it's way into the Windows WP market by signing
  61. an OEM deal with NBI Inc. of Boulder, Colorado. Wordstar Legacy is
  62. to be available by March 1. The company also licensed rights to
  63. NBI's source code and intends to release a new version before year 
  64. end. Wordstar Legacy will include a conversion utility for Wordstar
  65. 6.0 documents. List price for Wordstar Legacy is US $495.00.
