[1]Choosing Commands (p.90)
To choose a command with the mouse:
1. Click the menu name on the menu bar.
2. Click the command name.
If the command needs more information, you will see a dialog box.
If you decide after you've selected the menu that you don't want
to choose a command, you can cancel the menu:
* Click anywhere outside the menu.
To choose a command with the keyboard:
1. Press the ALT key.
2. Press the underlined letter in the menu name.
3. Press the underlined letter in the command name.
Or, use the UP or DOWN keys to select the command you want, and
press ENTER.
If the command needs more information, you will see a dialog box.
If you decide not to carry out a command:
* Press ESCAPE.

To fill in a dialog box with the keyboard:
* Use the TAB key or press the underlined letter to move the
flashing underline or insertion point from one item to another.
* Type text into a text box.
* Use the DIRECTION keys to select items from a list box or a
group of options.
* To choose a button, move the flashing underline to that
button and press the SPACEBAR key.
* Use the SPACEBAR to select or deselect a checkbox.
To fill in a dialog box with the mouse:
* Click the option, list box item, or checkbox.
* To type text, click in the text box and begin typing.

To use the OPUS I help feature:
1. Select the Control menu and choose the Help command, or
press F1.
You will see a dialog box.
2. Select a topic from the list box.
3. Choose the Help button.
Or with the mouse, double-click the topic you want to see.
You will see another dialog box containing information
about the topic you selected.
* Use the scroll bar to see more information about this topic.
* Choose the Topics button to select another topic.
* Choose the Next button to display information about the next
topic.
* Choose the Previous button to display information about the
topic before the current topic.
* Choose the Cancel button to continue working.

To undo your last action:
* Select the Edit menu and choose the Undo command, or press
ALT+BACKSPACE.
Note: You need to choose the Undo command immediately after
the action you want to correct.
[5]Locking a Drawing file (p.94)
To lock or unlock an OPUS I drawing file:è 1. Select the File menu and choose the Set Lock command.
You will see a dialog box.
Important: The password for new OPUS I drawing files is the word
"PASSWORD." You can change the password later.
2. Type PASSWORD.
Or, type the correct password if it has been changed.
3. Choose the OK button to continue.
If you type the correct password you will see another dialog
box. This dialog box lets you change the password and lock or
unlock your drawing file.
To change the password:
* Type a new password in the Password box.
To prevent changes to both the drawing and information:
* Select the Lock File option.
To prevent changes to the drawing only:
* Select the Lock Drawing Only option.
To allow changes to both the drawing and information:
* Select the Unlock File option.
When you are satisfied with the lock settings:
* Choose the OK button.

To open a new drawing file:
* Select the File menu and choose the New command.
If you made changes to the drawing file you were working with,
OPUS I asks if you want to save the changes.

To open an existing drawing file:
1. Select the File menu and choose the Open command.
You will see a dialog box.
2. Select the name of the drawing file you want to open.
3. Choose the Open button to complete the command.
Or with the mouse, double-click the name of the drawing file you
want to open.

To open an existing drawing file from the MS-DOS Executive:
1. Expand the MS-DOS Executive Window.
2. Select an OPUS I drawing file and press ENTER.

To open another OPUS I window:
1. Begin with an OPUS I window open on your screen.
2. Expand the MS-DOS Executive to share the screen with the
OPUS I window.
3. Select and run OPUS-I.EXE.
[10] Saving a Drawing file As You Work (p.98)
To save as you work:
1. Select the File menu and choose the Save command.
If you are working with a new drawing file you will see a dialog
box.
2. Type the name you want the drawing file to have.
3. Choose the OK button to complete the command.
[11] Naming Drawing files (p.98)
* You may use any combination of letters and numbers. Letters
may be upper or lower case. OPUS I changes lower case letters
to upper case for you.
* A name can have up to eight characters, plus an extension. An èextension begins with a period and can have up to three
characters.
* If you do not add an extension, OPUS I automatically adds the
extension .ODF for you. You should avoid using your own
extensions so you can recognize OPUS I drawing files on your disk.
[12] Compacting a Drawing file (p.99)
To compact a drawing file:
1. Select the Organize menu and choose the Show All Records
command.
2. Select the File menu and choose the Save Records As command.
The name of the drawing file you are working with appears in the
box. Do not change the name.
3. Choose the OK button to complete the command.
[13] Saving to a Different Disk Drive (p.99)
To save a drawing file to a different disk:
1. Select the File menu and choose the Save command.
2. Type the name of the drawing file preceded by a letter and
colon for the drive you want to save to.
3. Choose the OK button to complete the command.
[14] Saving to a Subdirectory (p.100)
To save a drawing file to a different subdirectory:
1. Select the File menu and choose the Save command.
2. Type the subdirectory name, a backslash, and the drawing file
name.
3. Choose the OK button to complete the command.

To close the OPUS I window:
* Select the Control menu and choose the Close command.
Or with the mouse, double-click the Control-menu box.

1. Move the insertion point to the field you want to view.

To scroll up or down one screenful:è * Click in the gray area above or below the scroll box on
the vertical scroll bar.
To scroll to a general location:
* Drag the scroll box to a position in the scroll bar that
corresponds to the general location you want.
With the Keyboard
To scroll up one record:
* Press CONTROL+UP.
To scroll down one record:
* Press CONTROL+DOWN.
To scroll left one field:
* Press CONTROL+LEFT.
To scroll right one field:
* Press CONTROL+RIGHT.
To scroll up a screenful of records:
* Press PAGE UP.
To scroll down a screenful of records:
* Press PAGE DOWN.
To scroll horizontally left one page:

middle, or end of the drawing file.)

To scroll to next record:
* Press SHIFT+PAGE DOWN.
To scroll to first record:
