Unprotecting MANAGING YOUR MONEY
Version 3.0
Hard Disk users (and floppy users who use copies) are required by the program
to prove, from time-to-time, that they have an "Originial" Disk #1. At
program-selected times, the user is requested to place the "Original Disk #1"
in Drive A:. The program verifies its presence and then resumes execution of
the program. If the disk is not placed in Drive A: the program prints a
warning message and further execution in that part of the program is suspended
until the Original Disk #1 is 'seen' by the program.
Those who purchase our software, find the periodic request a 'bother' because
people usually stored original disks in a safe place and use a copy loaded on
the Hard Disk or (if a floppy user) use a 'copy disk'.
This information is made available to get rid of the 'bother', not to encourage
theft of the software. MYM is a good program, please buy it!
UNPROTECTING MYM, v3.0
1. Make a copy of MYM.EXE and rename the copy MYM.XXX
2. Enter the 'Debug' program, by typing DEBUG and press Enter.
3. You should see the debug prompt _.
4. Type e 0100 ffff 1c 00 9a c6 06 00 and press Enter.
5. You should see the debug promp,4 numbers/letters, a :, and 4 more
numbers/letters. E.g. in my program it returns _26A7:1574.
6. If it returns only the debug prompt, _, then you have a different
version. Type q and press Enter to leave debug.
7. If you see the proper return _xxxx:yyyy, enter the 2nd number,
e.g. from the debug prompt, -, type yyyy 1c 00 eb 75 and press Enter.
With my disk, I typed e 1574 1c 00 eb 7f and pressed Enter.
8. From the debug prompt, _, Type w (to write your changes) and press Enter.
9. Leave debug: Type q and press Enter.
10.This should return you to the DOS prompt. Rename the MYM.XXX file
to MYM.EXE. It is now unprotected. It will still run the "Original
Disk test" periodically, but will now is self-verify in a couple of
seconds (before you can react to the screen prompt)..
11.Replace your working copy of MYM.EXE with the unprotected version.
NOW, you can put your original disk in a safe place and not be
bothered for it again by the normal program operation.
