  37.  from the Command Post menu.  There is a SPECIAL SECTION in the front
  38.  of this cardfile that discusses functions NOT IN THE MANUAL.

  41.  The CP_QUEST.CRD cardfile on the disk (or Zip file) has a number
  42.  of common questions and answers that our tech support people
  43.  have been asked.  Quite likely the answer to your question can be

  46.  Both CMDPOST.CPM and CMDUSER.CPM have been changed from previous
  47.  versions.  Be sure to check out CMDUSER.CPM for the new clipboard
  48.  functions. Note that if the install procedure does not move them 
  49.  into your main CmdPost directory, it will rename the files to
  50.  NEWPOST.CPM and NEWUSER.CPM to help avoid confusion.

  52.  We've included a manual on disk, called CMDPOST.TXT, containing
  53.  all the text in the real manual, but without the illustrations.

  87.              likely edit to add custom menu items.  You
  88.              WILL have to edit this to configure it for
  89.              your system!

  114.                HOW TO INSTALL COMMAND POST 7.0
  115.  
  116.  Command Post may be installed automatically, via our INSTALL.EXE
  117.  program, or manually, following the instructions further below.
  118.  If, for some reason, you have problems with the automatic install,
  119.  then try the manual install...
  120.  
  121.  *** AUTOMATIC INSTALL
  122.  
  123.  1) Close down all extraneous Windows applications.
  124.  2) Double-Click on the INSTALL.EXE program
  125.  3) Answer questions and watch it go.
  126.  
  127.  Notes:    1) The floppy or disk being installed FROM
  128.            MUST have at least 15K free space on it.  
  129.         2) The target (destination) directory where
  130.            you plan to install CmdPost into MUST be
  131.            pre-defined and MUST be in your DOS PATH
  132.            statement.   About 500K bytes needed.
  133.         3) The scratch directory for the install 
  134.            needs about 700K bytes free for the install
  135.            process.

  139. *** MANUAL INSTALL
  140.

  142.    1)  DELETE all of the old Command Post and Browser and
  143.        Applet "{xxxxxxx.EXE" files from your disk.
  144.    2)  Copy the CP_INST.SFX file to an empty directory.
  145.    3)  Rename the CP_INST.SFX file to CP_INST.EXE
  146.    4)  Run it.    It will create all the necessary files.
  147.    5)  Delete the CP_INST.EXE file.
  148.    6)  Review the LICENSE.TXT file.  If you do not agree to
  149.        the terms, delete all Command Post files and stop
  150.        installing.
  151.    7)  Move all the .EXE files (except TASKMANR.EXE) to a
  152.        directory defined in your DOS PATH statement.
  153.    8)  Copy the CMDPOST.CPM to the same directory.
  154.    9)  If you are installing Cmdpost for the first time,
  155.        copy the CMDUSER.CPM file also.
  156.   10)  Copy the two cardfiles, CP_HELP.CRD and CP_QUEST.CRD also
  157.   11)  Edit WIN.INI.  Remove CMDPOST.EXE from the LOAD= line,
  158.        and add CMDPOST.EXE to the RUN= line.
  159.   12)  If you have Windows 3.0, see the special Windows 3.0
  160.        appendix in the manual (or the disk file CMDPOST.TXT).
  161.   12)  Review the documentation files in the directory.

  166.                     UN-INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS
  167.  
  168.  If, for some reason you wish to un-install Command Post from your
  169.  system, here is a checklist for doing so.
  170.  
  171.  1) Examine the SYSTEM.INI file.  If you manually installed Command Post
  172.     as your primary shell (See Docs), you must edit the SYSTEM.INI file.
  173.        Change
  174.            shell=cmdpost.exe
  175.        to
  176.            shell=progman.exe
  177.  
  178.  2) Examine the WIN.INI file.
  179.        Change
  180.            run=cmdpost.exe
  181.        to
  182.            run=
  183.    If there is other stuff on the run= line, you probably want to
  184.    leave it there.  Just delete the cmdpost.exe from the run= line.

  186.  3) Delete the entire [CmdPost] and [Browser] (if it exists) sections
  187.     from the WIN.INI file.  Actually you may leave them there, as
  188.     it really does not matter.

  190.  4) Delete the following files from the directory that Command Post was
  191.     installed into.
  192.         cmdpost.exe
  193.         cp_dll.exe
  194.         cp_dll3.exe
  195.         cp_tree.exe
  196.     browser.exe
  197.         wininfo.exe
  198.         cp_blnk.exe
  199.         cp_help.crd
  200.         cp_quest.crd
  201.         cp_info.exe
  202.         cp_virt.bat
  203.         cmdpost.cpm
  204.     taskmanr.exe   NOT TASKMANG.EXE OR TASKMAN.EXE !!!
  205.         cmduser.cpm  (you may want to keep a copy around, esp. if you
  206.                       have put some work into this file.)

  208.    In the CP-NOTES.TMP directory, delete all the files, and remove
  209.    the directory.

  211. 5) If a file TASKMANG.EXE (NOT TASKMANR.EXE) exists, rename it to
  212.    TASKMAN.EXE file.  (This is probably in the Windows directory.)
  213.    This is only necessary if you replaced the Windows TASKMAN.EXE
  214.    with the Command Post version of it.

  219.             ON-LINE SUPPORT

  221.  Command Post is has on-line support on a number of computer systems.
  222.  
  223.  First of all, the home of Command Post is on Compuserve, in the
  224.  WINAPA forum, in the Wilson WindowWare section (#15 currently).  Also
  225.  the latest and greatest downloads are available from DL15 of the
  226.  WINAPA forum.    The Wilson WindowWare section of the WINAPA forum
  227.  is checked on a daily basis, and all questions will be responded to.

  229.  The FidoNet Windows echomail conference is also monitored for Windows
  230.  questions in general.    Questions about Windows and Command Post will
  231.  be answered in the echo.

  233.  In addition, some other Windows echomail conferences, like SmartNet,
  234.  are monitored on a semi-regular basis and appropriate questions will
  235.  be usually get an answer.

  266.  Windows 3.0's Task Manager with Command Post.  Microsoft
  267.  has since renamed Task Manager to "Task List".  The Command
  268.  Post version of the may be found in the \CP-NOTES.TMP directory
  269.  with the file name TASKMANR.EXE (If you used our install program).

  271.  directory you used.
