FAMILY HISTORY SYSTEM
Installation Procedure
The distribution diskette for the Family History System contains many files
that are not used during the normal operation of the system. The purpose of
this procedure is to guide you through a sequence of operations that will
result in a "working copy" of those files that are required for you to
create, maintain and process files of information about your own Family.
If you are planning to run the system from a diskette you will first have to
format a diskette to contain this working copy of the Family History System.
This is done by placing your DOS diskette, which contains the FORMAT command,
in the "A" drive of your PC and entering one of the following commands:
FORMAT B:/S if you are creating a "bootable" diskette
FORMAT B:/B if you are creating a diskette for use on another
version of PCDOS (MSDOS)
FORMAT B: if you want more room on the diskette for data
Note: any form of the FORMAT command will destroy all contents of the
diskette which is placed in the "B" drive, so make sure the one you use
does not have anything on it that you wish to save.
