I'm re-issuing them  because I asked in those files that they not be used in
any  commercial  product  (unless you wanted to pay me lots of money).   Now,

PINN-ART  does not use  any  characters  between  Decimal 0  and  Decimal 31.
This makes it safe for  all  telecommunications  applications,  provided that
the  user  does  not  "strip the  high bit".   Most  PC-oriented telecom pro-
grams can be configured so that they  don't  strip the high bit.   They might
call this a "Full Character Set" or "Full Ascii Mode".

In case you're interested,  the artist's name is Timothy Campbell.  That also

By the way, I try to keep the pictures small, so they don't take up too much
room on the screen.  So, if  you're saying to yourself,  "Why did he make it
so darned BIG?",  figure it  this way:  I probably TRIED to make it smaller!

This is the smallest font I can manage.  PINN-ART #1's FONT1 and FONT2 cover-
ed all the letters  (with slightly flakey X's and Z's),  but this one is only
two lines high, so some letters simply can't be done.   However, as the exam-
ples show, this restricted character set still has many uses.

The  last example  is perhaps  "over-dressed"  for  such a  simple font.  You
might want to use it for a company logo or something,  using standard charac-
ters to fill in the middle space.  Be sure to center all the lines.

"lose something in the translation" when displayed by certain video cards.

If you're  using PINN-ART for applications in which the pictures will be seen
on a variety of monitors,  you should consider viewing them with several dif-
ferent video adaptor cards.

If you're a consultant developing software for a single user,  you don't have
to worry about a variety of displays viewing PINN-ART.   You'll get to see it
on-site when you test it.  Most business applications use monochrome video.

If you're writing a more general application such as a Bulletin Board System,
you should look at the picture on several systems to make sure it looks okay.

You may be tempted to  modify the preceding picture  by  adding  those little
"note"  characters  that are available on the  IBM PC.   But  beware!   Those
characters are  below  ASCII code 32!   They can have adverse affects on some
software which use those codes for various  control functions.   For example,
the "single eighth note" character is decimal 13, which is a carriage return!

PINN-ART never  uses characters  below  ASCII code 32.   There are some  nice
characters down there that I'd love to use, but they cause too much trouble.

You can see several principles at work, here.  First of all, we see that you
can modify the basic PINNART fonts.  The word  "NAMER"  uses double vertical
bars to stretch out the characters.   Secondly,  you'll note that every line
is nicely  centered   and they're  all the  same length.   This improves the
visual impact.   The border is not too fussy,  which is a good thing.   Mind
you,  it wasn't easy to  create  it!   All those  intersections  can drive a
PINN-ARTist to distraction!
