WORDMIX 1.2 (C) Copyright 1990 Blanchard Software
WORDMIX runs on an IBM PC or clone with color or monochrome display.
It requires 67k of storage and one floppy drive.
The first time you run WORDMIX it creates a file called STFILE.WMX in
the current directory. STFILE.WMX keeps track of the most recently
played words.
INSTRUCTIONS
Type WMX<Enter> to start the program. WORDMIX will display a
registration reminder screen. If you want to print a registration
form, type P and press <Enter>. If not, just press <Enter>.
The next screen shows instructions for the game. At the bottom of this
screen you choose the number of words to be mixed. If you type
B<Enter> or 4<Enter>, the program will mix four words to make the
puzzles. If you type I<Enter> or 6<Enter>, the program will mix 6
words to make the puzzles. A<Enter> or 8<Enter> tells the program to
make 8 word puzzles.
The game display appears next. It shows function key reminders in the
upper right corner of the screen.
The [F5] key tells WORDMIX that you want a new puzzle. If you don't
like the clue, or if you are stuck on a puzzle, use [F5] to start a
new puzzle.
The [F3] key tells WORDMIX to solve one puzzle word for you. You are
limited to one HINT/HELP per puzzle, but you can always use [F3] to
avoid typing the last word of the puzzle.
When you guess a word, the program compares it with the puzzle words.
If it does not find a matching word, it tells you the word is wrong.
Wrong guesses don't count, so you can just make another guess.
If your guess is right, WORDMIX moves the letters from the mixed
letter area to the right side word display. When you solve all the
words, the program will tell you the elapsed time.
HINT: Use your knowledge of English language letter combinations to
find the words in the array of mixed letters.
WORDMIX selects puzzle words and clues with a randomization algorithm.
You may see clues repeat from time to time. You will not see words
repeat in a given puzzle for a long time. WORDMIX keeps track of the
400 most recently used puzzle words and does not repeat them.
WORDMIX 1.2 has more than 900 puzzle words and 41 clues.
REGISTRATION OFFER
Shareware gives you free home trial of new software. If you play
WORDMIX, then you should register your copy and pay the ten dollar
fee. I will send you one of my other shareware programs as a
registration bonus. You can choose from the following.
(1) WORDS*WORDS 1.x A sophisticated word game. It is a
logical deduction puzzle in which puzzle words are linked to
quotations and proverbs. More challenging than WORDMIX. It
requires a good bit of concentration, careful logic and a
facility with words and letters. Registered owners say:
"A fascinating game," "A lovely and amusing game, "An
intelligent amusing game."...
(2) PC CRYPTOGRAMS 1.x Cryptograms are considered the
aristocrats of word puzzles. PC CRYPTOGRAMS contains 50 letter
substitution cryptograms in a program that takes all the
disagreeable labor out of solving. Type a guess anywhere the
letter appears in the puzzle, and PC CRYPTOGRAMS makes the
substitution throughout. Change a letter anywhere, and the
program makes the corrections. It shows encrypted text and
substitutions in the style of newspaper puzzles. Texts chosen
from famous authors for humor and interest.
(3) PRINT CONTROL PROGRAM 2.0 (PCP) Three printer
utilities in one. Memory resident. Pop up while running any
other program. Send control codes to the printer to select print
modes. Print any rectangular area of the screen. The printed
image shows underlining, high intensity and reverse video. Prints
high order ASCII characters. Lets you type anywhere on the screen
before printing. The original screen is restored when you leave
PCP.
Please mark your choice on the registration form. You can print the
form from WMX.EXE. Send your $10.00 check, payable to Walter
Blanchard, to
