  6.              Unprotection Instructions for Hard Disk
  7.    Allows use on Hard Disk without Master Boot disk in Drive A:
  8.                 (Requires Norton Utilities v3.10)

  11. Read ALL instructions before starting unprotection!  
  12.  
  13. Make a backup of the file DSBOOT.$BT before you begin the unprotection 
  14. procedure.  If you do make a mistake, you can always restore the 
  15. original file.

  18. Run Norton Utilities (NU) from Dollars & Sense directory.  Type [2] 
  19. [1] [3], move cursor to DSBOOT.$BT, [ENTER], [7], [ENTER], [ENTER], 
  20. [ENTER], [TAB], B9 01 27 BA 00 00 CD, [ENTER], [ENTER].

  22. After the beep, press [SPACE].

  24. At the top right of screen it should say: For v2.07:"Cursor at 
  25. offset 447, hex 1BF", for v2.00[16C]:"Cursor at offset 443, hex 
  26. 1BB".  You should also see three "CD 13"'s one on top of the next 
  27. at the cursor position.  These are where you will start entering 
  28. 90's.

  30. 1. Enter "90" seven times without a break starting at the first 
  31. "CD 13" (v2.07: offset 447, hex 1BF, v2.00[16C]: offset 443, hex 
  32. 1BB).

  34. 2. Enter "90" seven times without a break starting at the second 
  35. "CD 13" (v2.07: offset 471, hex 1D7, v2.00[16C]: offset 467, hex 
  36. 1D3).

  38. 3. Enter "90" twelve times without a break starting at the third 
  39. "CD 13" (v2.07: offset 495, hex 1EF, v2.00[16C]: offset 491, hex 
  40. 1EB).

  42.    Top of screen should now say: For v2.07: "Cursor at offset 
  43. 507, hex 1FB", for v2.00[16C]: "Cursor at offset 503, hex 1F7"  
  44.  
  45. Now press [ESC], [ENTER], [ESC], [ESC], [ESC].

  47. You have now removed the check for a key disk in drive A: from Dollars 
  48. & Sense.  
  49.  
  50. Be sure to make modifications AFTER you've made a backup of 
  51. DSBOOT.$BT.  Do NOT Make A Mistake!  If you do make a mistake and 
  52. can't recover easily, nothing will have been changed until after you 
  53. type [ESC] [ENTER].  Just type several [ESC]'s to abort the program 
  54. and start over.

  56. Finally, I am not sure that this unprotection procedure is complete.  
  57. If the program makes a check that I haven't found, the program may 
  58. crash.  Although this hasn't happened to me, there is always the small 
  59. possibility that it may.
