Here are some hints to help you in your journey:
Continue to use your blade until you have a good dexterity
for arrows and spears.
Carry your sword when wandering monsters are about.
Use lifepoints that you earn to build your character up
first. Don't let extra lifepoints be converted to silver to
buy items, use treasures that you have grabbed to do that.
Spend all your lifepoints and silver at easier levels so that
your character will be fully configured before you attempt
the harder levels.
Do not allow yourself to become too tired! If you cannot
injure a monster or walk away from it, you are bound to get
killed.
Stay on your toes. A quick monster can be on you before you
know it.
There are two ways to rest in a very difficult level. First,
use the magic talisman to lower the possibility of wandering
monsters appearing. Second, wound a monster so badly that he
cannot hurt you. Then rest before you kill him. Other
monsters will keep their distance until they are sure their
comrade is dead.
Let monsters come to you. You can rest while you wait for
them, and prepare for a perfect sword hit.
Run or leave a room if you are getting tired.
Use arrows and spears when the monster is far away,
especially in narrow corridors when you get a better target.
Don't carry too much. Take extra treasures back to the
armory before you are carrying too much to move about
quickly.
Don't get lost! Keep a pad with you on your journey and jot
down notes or draw a map.
Purchase permanent magic items before you buy temporary ones.
That way, the permanent ones will always be in the same
pockets.
