  1.           FORTUNE TELLER, BEGINNING VERSION - IMPORTANT NOTICE

  4. PLEASE MAKE A BACKUP COPY OF YOUR DISTRIBUTION DISKETTE BEFORE YOU BEGIN.
  5. Store the original in a safe place and use the copy for your work. See the
  6. DISKCOPY command in your DOS manual.

  8. The enclosed diskette contains the file FORTUNE.ARC. This is an archive file
  9. containing "crunched" files. That means the files have been made smaller
  10. using a special archiving process so that they could all be included on a
  11. single disk. To "uncrunch" them, you need to use the file ARCE.COM, which
  12. is also included. Follow these instructions to uncrunch your files:

  14. 1. YOU MUST BE USING A HARD DISK: Make sure you are using the subdirectory
  15. where you want these files to be placed. Start from the A> prompt, with the
  16. distribution diskette in the A drive. Enter the following command:

  18.      ARCE FORTUNE.ARC C:\SUBDIR /R
  19.  
  20. Instead of "SUBDIR", type the actual name of the subdirectory you want to
  21. use. The program will now uncrunch all files and place them on your hard
  22. disk.

  24. The following files should now be on your hard disk:
  25.  
  26. FORTUNE.EXE    RUNES.EXE    FORTUNE.DOC    ARCE.DOC

  28. 2. MANUAL: If you have a typical printer setup with your computer, you can
  29. print the instruction manual from your C> prompt. With all files installed
  30. on the hard disk, start from the prompt and enter this command line:

  32.       TYPE FORTUNE.DOC > LPT1:
  33.  
  34. Or, you can view the manual on screen by entering this command line:
  35.  
  36.       TYPE FORTUNE.DOC | MORE
  37.  
  38. Or, you can view and print the manual with most word processors using the
  39. DOS text file (ASCII file) option. ("Non-document" mode for WordStar users.)
  40. These same commands apply to ARCE.DOC, the manual for the ARCE program.

  42. 3. STARTING: To run FORTUNE TELLER, start from the prompt and enter this
  43. command:
