MONDAY MORNING FOOTBALL (c) COACHES MANUAL
A Real-Time Football Strategy Game
Copyright 1987 by Tim Swarr
This file written by BARRETT FLOWERS
1. Make a working copy of your disks, and put the originals
in a safe place.
2. Your CONFIG.SYS file must contain DEVICE=ANSI.SYS
statement. If it does not, the game picture will be
garbled, or the program may not execute correctly.
3. HARD DISK USERS-
Copy all of the files, on both disks, to your hard disk.
i.e.- Make a directory (md\) called MMF
Load all files from both disks to MMF directory
then type PLAY
When ask to insert a disk just type Y <enter>, and proceed.
4. FLOPPY DISK USERS-
For SINGLE disk- insert MMF PROGRAM disk into drive A.
type PLAY1
You will then be instructed to remove your MMF PROGRAM
disk, and insert your MMF DATA disk into the drive, then;
press RETURN or ENTER as appropriate.
For DUAL disk drive users-insert MMF PROGRAM disk into drive
B, and insert MMF DATA disk into drive A. Start MMF
program by typing PLAY2 . Then, when asked to "insert (data or program)
disk, just press Y <enter>.
HI-DENSITY DISK USERS - If you copy all of the files from both disks to one
high density 1.2 Mbyte 5.25" or 1.44 Mbyte 3.5" disk. Then just treat
the execution of the MMF as on a hard drive, and use the PLAY command
to start the game.
5. CGA or Color Graphics Adaptor, or higher, is needed to take full
advantage of the game. Remember the statement DEVICE=ANSI.SYS must
appear in your CONFIG.SYS file. If you play the game and numerals appear
on the side of the screen. Then check you CONFIG.SYS file for the above.
This game should execute using the Hercules Graphic Adapter also, but this
is not a "sure thing".
6. Anyone having problems with the game should either read the Coaches Manual,
or write me, describing the problem in detail, and I will see what I can do
to help you with it. Write to the same address as for the registration.
5. The first screen you come to will be the MMFSET program, this program lets
you view different aspects of prior games, and statistics. From here
press X to go on to the game program. When the program MMF starts
just follow the directions, described above, and on the screen and have a
winning season.
ABOUT THE GAME
This game, Monday Morning Football (MMF) differs from most
others in that you are not the player, but the coach. You
call the plays, and the players (computer) executes the
plays. The game can either be left to play itself, one player
against the computer, or two players against each other.
You can name your team or leave the default, just by pressing
ENTER at the appropriate time. At the beginning of the game
each player(s) should enter their initials so the computer
can keep track of the statistics, which are printed out at
the end of the game (in NFL league). The computer will remember these
statistics, and attempt to use them against you in future
games, there-by making it more competitive on each successive
game. You can also use these to YOUR advantage by seeing what
plays the computer used against you. At the beginning of the
game, you can set the "quarters" at any time between 3 and 15
minutes, the default is 15 minutes (remember, this is a real
time game, and should be played that way !).
At any time between plays, you can press "C" to view the
clipboard. This aids in calling plays, and keeping track of
the games statistics. In the event you should decide to quit
playing, call up the clipboard, and select "Q"uit. This will
stop the game, and at your option, save it for later.
This game, like CHESS, is easy to learn and simple to
execute, but the STRATEGY separates the players from the
fans. This is your chance to coach, and take responsibility
for your teams wins AND losses.
When you REGISTER your copy of MMF, you will receive, an
in-depth COACHES MANUAL, with tips, tricks, and tactics,
along with real professional coaches advice on how to win.
