CADDY.EXE Ver. 2.4 DOCUMENTATION
by
Michael C. Taylor
NOTE - release 2.4 fixes the problem on some machines with the
spacebar causing the swing to begin when attempting to
remove the CADDY help window. 2.4 also locks all keys
except the spacebar when the window is displayed. This
prevents another problem with the arrow keys being "active"
while the help window was displayed.
Also, CADDY no longer remains resident when it is done
executing !
CADDY is a memory-resident utility designed for use with Accolade's
MEAN-18 golf simulation. Since I'm not an outdoor duffer and limit my
hacking to MEAN-18, I don't know a whole lot about different clubs, swings,
etc. Because of this, I designed CADDY, a memory-resident table that
tells how far the ball will travel for each club for 3 types of swings.
CADDY can be invoked in any of the following ways:
1) CADDY - with no parameters will load itself and will then
execute GOLF.EXE (GOLF.EXE must exist in the current
directory);
2) CADDY progname arg1 arg2, etc.
where : progname is the name of the program to be
executed after CADDY is installed.
arg1 thru argn are any parameters to be
passed to progname.
for example - to run my GPRO.EXE golf utility
type
CADDY GPRO
or to run M18.EXE (another Golf utility) type
CADDY M18
The Caddy Program will display a help table whenever F1 is pressed during
the Mean-18 game. The table that appears shows 3 types of swings for each
club. The first is a full swing. The second (labeled SHORT) is a swing
one line from the top on the MEAN-18 "swing meter". The last one (DOTTED)
is a swing up to the dotted line on the meter (roughly 1/2 swing).
While playing MEAN-18, pressing F1 will display this table and pressing
the space bar will return you to your Golf Game.
CADDY no longer remains resident when it is finished executing!
Also, when you're not playing golf, and using your machine for the more
mundane functions like running a business, I do quite a bit of micro-computer
consulting whether its installing new hardware, modifying existing software or
recommending and/or implementing custom software systems. If you need help
with any of the above or have questions or comments about CADDY, I'd love to
hear from you.
CADDY maintenance and enhancements are beginning to take a fair amount of
time, so if you want to be assured of receiving the latest enhancements to
CADDY, as well as information on new software - like tournament software,
and league maintenance, please contribute $10 to register your copy of this
software.
