Information for porting to a new machine/compiler:
Make *very* sure that the adventure data files that are generated
by the compiler and read by the interpreter are binary files. Some
runtime libraries do character conversion on ASCII files and that
will cause problems with reading and writing the adventure data
files. The routine advcreate() in advcio.c and the routines
advcreate() and advopen() in adviio.c must create or open the files
in binary mode for the adventure system to work.
