SOAR UPDATE DESCRIPTIONS
Changes from Version 2.04 to 2.05 include:
1. Allowed a separate company name to be printed on the top left
of a bill that is different from the "REMIT TO:" name from the
system file.
Changes from Version 2.05 to 2.06 include:
1. Added new billing format (Format F) that centers the company
name, address, etc. on the bill. This format leaves off the
statement number and the customer identifier.
Changes from Version 2.06 to 2.07 include:
1. Added an account total in the Total Receivables Report such
that the total owed by a customer is displayed.
2. Added billing format G that fits a custom form similar to the
DF-51 but is preprinted with heading data.
3. Cleaned up a minor glitch in clearing the screen when
returning to the main menu from the receivables menu.
Changes from Version 2.07 to 2.08 include:
1. Modified the Customer Master List in the Reports Menu to
include the total owed by the customer.
2. Modified View Customer to include the total owed.
3. Modified printing formats "D" and "F" to limit them to 60
lines for those laser printers with smaller line limits.
4. Allowed a custom message and comment (or none) to be included
in the Apply Late Charges module that is different from the
default. The new messages can be printed on transactions
showing the customer has a past due balance. See the addendum
to the manual.
5. Limited the number of lines that can be read from the custom
footer message for billing. Some users had problems with the
number of lines exceeding one page.
6. Changed the Taxable indicator on bill to a "T" rather than
"Y".
7. Corrected the Change Mode in Enter Transactions to reflect the
proper quantity on description lines starting with "-".
8. Limited all reports to around 60 lines per page for laser
printers.
Changes from Version 2.08 to 2.09 include:
1. Displayed the customer name on the transaction entry menu so
the user could see what name was associated with the customer
id.
2. Allowed the user to change the name associated with an id;
that is, the reports and bills use "CUSTOMER" by default. Now
this can be easily changed to whatever; e.g., CLIENT, PATIENT,
etc.
Changes from Version 2.09 to 3.00 are major and include:
1. Corrected the compiler problems with certain numbers
(MicroSoft problems that corrupted SOAR).
2. Expanded the customer file to include points-of-contact and
a reference. Also increased the state field to 15 characters
(vice 2) and the ZIP field to 10 (vice 5). Added points-of-
contact, a reference (what are you doing for this customer?).
3. Expanded the Transaction Category fields to include the data
necessary for invoicing and inventory control.
4. Corrected several minor formatting problems on reports or
billing data.
5. Included options to change the footer line, header line, or
the billing id in the system file.
6. Allowed the currency symbol to be specified for foreign users.
7. Allowed the date format to be selected (MM/DD/YY or DD/MM/YY).
8. Allowed the user to select their own late messages.
9. Changed the floating point number format to IEEE standards.
10. Included a conversion program (CNVSOAR.EXE) to allow users to
convert from pre-3.00 Versions to 3.+ versions of SOAR.
Changes from Version 3.00 to 3.01 include:
1. Corrected problems in the minimum payment amount & factor.
2. Allowed the reference in the customer file to be included in
the bills.
3. Embedded a control code in the disk billing file to allow a
future "REBILL" utility to be coded.
4. Included DROPCUST.EXE and UNPOST.EXE utilities on Disk #3.
5. Corrected a minor problem in the Apply Credit routine using
Summary Category 23.
Changes from Version 3.01 to 3.02 include:
1. Included defaults in system file maintenance so illegal
function error would go away if user forgot to enter line 23.
2. Changed the transaction control report to include comments.
3. Forced the quantity/amount to zero for comment trans.
categories.
Changes from Version 3.02 to 3.03 include;
1. Added billing format "I" for large letterheads.
2. Made minor correction in billing format "E".
3. Increased STATEMENT/INVOICE number to 6 characters.
4. Corrected posting control report to correctly show balance.
Changes from Version 3.03 to 3.04 include:
1. Corrected formlength spacing in billing format "A".
2. Made the files display remain visible in the billing module.
3. Corrected the spacing in the billing mailing label file.
4. Changed the Add Customer module such that the last city,
state, and ZIP become the new defaults for faster data entry.
5. Corrected the Transaction Entry module so the date can be
entered as an abbreviated form; e.g., 1/15/89 rather than
01/15/89.
6. Retained the last Transaction Category and amount as defaults
in the Transaction Entry module.
Changes from Version 3.04 to 3.05 include:
1. Corrected minor problems in the transaction entry defaults.
2. Added billing format J for dual window envelopes.
Changes from Version 3.05 to 3.06 include:
1. Included the ability to add multi-line footers onto the bills
from an external file. Up to 5 70-character lines can be used.
2. Modified the bills so payments are printed with a leading "-".
3. Included a rebilling utility on disk #3. This allows you to
access the disk billing file and selectively reprint or save bills
that have already been printed and sent to the disk file.
4. Modified the location of rounding routines so sales tax would be
correct for many transactions on the same bill.
5. Made minor corrections to the transaction entry routines.
6. Dropped the separating comma between city and state on bills.
7. Corrected a bug in the Delete Transaction Category module that did
not correctly rebuild the autobilling customer ids.
8. Made minor screen corrections and enhancements in Delete Transaction
Category menus.
Changes from Version 3.06 to 3.07 include:
1. Allowed negative numbers to be entered in the transaction entry
module for Amt/Qty. This can be used to offset an error and to
make credits easier to handle.
2. The minus sign for payments is now included in the transaction
control report and transaction reports.
Changes from Version 3.07 to 3.08 include:
1. Displays customer account status during transaction entry. This was
requested by users who wanted to see the status during entry so they
could include a note if the account was in trouble.
2. Added a new option on the Transaction Menu to allow a transaction to
be edited. Transactions posted, deleted, or billed cannot be edited.
With this option you no longer have to delete a transaction to make
a simple change. Remember, you can "UNPOST" a transaction and then
edit it...
3. Modified the Auto Billing routine to include "trigger" dates. This
allows different customers to have different billing dates during
the month. Auto billing can be run as many times as desired. When
auto billing is specified for a transaction category, you must enter
a day for the billing to be activated. The day may be in the range
of 1-27. If auto billing is run, a customer will only be billed if
the current date (computer date) is equal to or greater than the
trigger day. Once billed, that customer will not be billed again
until End of Period is run.
4. Included the option in Auto Billing for multiple billings during
a month. If the trigger date is set to "0", the customer will be
billed whenever the Auto Billing is run. This option was included
for those that bill several times a period (e.g., weekly), such as
daycare facilities. CAUTION ... this feature assumes the person
running Auto Billing knows what they are doing and how often they
are doing it. If you arn't sure if you ran Auto Billing or not,
check the transaction file via the Reports Menu.
Changes from Version 3.08 to 3.09 include;
1. Adjusted printing formats A and B. Included provisions for a
forthcoming utility to allow a user to customize the billing
format to their particular needs.
