  20. DENTAL#1 System requirements:
  21.         MS-DOS 2.0 (or greater)
  22.         640k of memory (* required)
  23.         Monochrome (or color) monitor
  24.         (1) 5 1/4" floppy disk drive (for loading of software)
  25.         (1) hard disk drive (for program and data files)
  26.         (1) printer (any dot matrix printer)
  27.  
  28.         NO SPECIAL FORMS ARE REQUIRED. ALL REPORTS WILL BE
  29.         PRINTED ON 8 1/2" X 11" STANDARD STOCK PAPER.

  31.         (Note - DENTAL#1 is a single user system and is not qualified for
  32.          multi-user, or network, usage.)

  34. Files contained on your distribution disks:
  35.                  README.1ST    = Basic instructions.
  36.                  DENTAL1.EXE   = Program (part 1 of 4).
  37.                  DEN1001.OVL   = Program (part 2 of 4).
  38.                  DEN1002.OVL   = Program (part 3 of 4).
  39.                  DEN1003.OVL   = Program (part 4 of 4).
  40.                  MANUAL.PT1    = Part 1 of 4 part user manual.
  41.                  MANUAL.PT2    = Part 2 of 4 part user manual.
  42.                  MANUAL.PT3    = Part 3 of 4 part user manual.
  43.                  MANUAL.PT4    = Part 4 of 4 part user manual.
  44.                  MANUAL.BAT    = Routine to print your user manual.

  47. Steps to follow for system installation:
  48.         1. Make a backup of the DENTAL#1 distribution disks and store
  49.            the originals in a save place. Use the newly created
  50.            backup disks for all following installation instructions.
  51.  
  52.         2. Check to insure that you have a 'CONFIG.SYS' file in your
  53.            root directory with the following MINIMUM values:
  54.            FILES = 20       BUFFERS = 8
  55.            If you do not have a 'CONFIG.SYS' file, or it does not
  56.            contain these minimum values, consult your DOS manual on
  57.            how to create/modify your 'CONFIG.SYS' file.
  58.            (Note - DENTAL#1 will not operate properly, and may crash,
  59.            if your 'CONFIG.SYS' file does not exist with these values. 
  60.            If you needed to create, or modify, your 'CONFIG.SYS' file
  61.            be sure that you  reboot your system before you continue.
  62.            Your system only reads the values contained in your
  63.            'CONFIG.SYS' file at initial system boot.)
  64.  
  65.         3. From your root directory create a sub-directory that will
  66.            contain your DENTAL#1 program and data files.  The following
  67.            DOS command will create a sub-directory called "DENTAL1".
  68.                 C>MD\DENTAL1
  69.         4. Once you have created the sub-directory, select the new
  70.            sub-directory by entering:
  71.                 C>CD\DENTAL1
  72.         5. Insert DENTAL#1 distribution disk #1 into drive A. Copy the
  73.            contents of drive A into the newly created DENTAL1 sub-
  74.            directory by entering the following DOS command:
  75.                 C>COPY A:*.*
  76.            Remove disk from drive A upon completion.
  77.         6. Insert DENTAL#1 distribution disk #2 into drive A. Copy the
  78.            contents of drive A into the newly created DENTAL1 sub-
  79.            directory by entering the following DOS command:
  80.                 C>COPY A:*.*
  81.            Remove disk from drive A upon completion.
  82.            Repeat process with dist #3.
  83.         7. Print your user manual and read before going any further:
  84.                 a: turn on your printer
  85.                 b: enter C>MANUAL  <return>

  88. ALL COPIES OF DENTAL#1 WILL INITIALLY LOAD AS 'UNREGISTERED' HAVING A
  89. 100 PATIENT LIMIT. THIS PATIENT LIMIT WILL BE REMOVED UPON THE ENTRY
  90. OF A VALID 'USER REGISTRATION NUMBER' INTO YOUR PRACTICE DATA. THIS
  91. 'USER REGISTRATION NUMBER' IS UNIQUE TO EACH USER AND IS PROVIDED TO
  92. THE USER UPON RECEIPT OF A FULLY PAID AND PROPERLY FILLED OUT
  93. REGISTRATION FORM. WHEN YOU SEND IN THIS FORM CHECK TO INSURE THAT
  94. YOUR PRACTICE NAME IS ENTERED EXACTLY AS YOU WISH IT TO BE  - ANY
  95. CHANGES IN ENTERING YOUR PRACTICE NAME WILL INVALIDATE YOUR UNIQUE
  96. REGISTRATION NUMBER.

  98. REGISTERED USERS WILL RECEIVE THE FOLLOWING BENEFITS:
  99.         >FREE BUG REPLACEMENT DISKS;
  100.         >PRINTED USER MANUAL;
  101.         >CURRENT VERSION OF DENTAL1:
  102.         >LOW COST PRODUCT UPGRADES;
  103.         >SPECIAL PRICES ON NEW PRODUCTS FROM MEDshare.

  106. REGISTERING YOUR COPY OF DENTAL#1:
  107.      After  you've worked with the un-registered  package
  108. of DENTAL#1, and decide you want full access to the  system,
  109. follow these simple steps to register:
  110.      1.  Enter the (A)pplication support section  of  the
  111. UTILITIES  sub-menu, select '(U)pdate practice data'  and
  112. verify  that  the information displayed  is  correct  and
  113. entered  exactly  as you want it to be displayed  in  all
  114. usages.
  115.      2.  Enter  the  (S)ystem  support  section  of   the
  116. UTILITIES  sub-menu, select '(P)rint  registration  form,
  117. and print out a copy of the REGISTRATION FORM.
  118.  
  119.      3.  Finally, mail the form and a check to cover  the
  120. registration fee to MEDshare.  
  121.  
  122.      A. A REGISTRATION NUMBER  that will unlock you  from
  123.         the 100 patient limits of the system.
  124.      B. A phone number you can call for support (you will
  125.         be billed for this support).
  126.      C. A printed copy of the user's manual.
  127.      D. A copy of the newest version of DENTAL#1.
  128.      E. Newsletter informing you of other programs  that
  129.         complement DENTAL#1.
