  1.                     Quiz Master 5.0

  3.    Thank you for taking the time to have a look at Quiz Master.
  4. Quiz Master is a labor of love that started back in 1982 and was
  5. first written for FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) exams to
  6. be taken by students in aviation maintenance courses.
  7.  
  8.    As you have already unpacked or unzipped all the Quiz Master
  9. files, be sure you have created a directory called \QM50 for all
  10. your Quiz Master programs, as this path name will match the name
  11. used in the manual. We suggest that before you go any further,
  12. run the DEMO program. The demo program was written to inform and
  13. teach you about how the program works. Type DEMO at the Dos
  14. prompt, press any key to get by the intro screen, and the main
  15. menu will appear. Select each category from top to bottom, and by
  16. the time you reach the bottom you should have a good overview of
  17. the program.

  19.    Next, have your printer on line & ready and at the DOS prompt
  20. type MANUAL. The menu will appear allowing you to print the full
  21. menu or each chapter at a time.

  23.    Once the manual is printed, please read it it over thoroughly,
  24. it isn't that long because most all the help you will need is
  25. available on screen. After you've read the manual, then start
  26. practicing by printing exams using the sample question bank. See
  27. Section 2.2 "Preparing Quiz Master" in the manual.

  29.     To jump right in, not read the manual, and have a look at the
  30. Quiz Master system type QM. Help is available everywhere.

  32.     In the Introduction pages of the manual and under the
  33. "Shareware Agreement and Specs" from the Demo Main Menu, is the
  34. definition of Shareware and the amount required to send
  35. Hallandales Inc. for the registry fee. As is it stated, 
  36. Shareware is a distribution method which allows us to get paid
  37. for the amount of work we put in to creating Quiz Master.

  39.    What do you get in return by registering?
  40.  
  41.    First you get to legally use a really great program, plus
  42. telephone support, notices of updates, and the feeling that
  43. you've helped in the development process of the program.  
  44.  
  45.    Most all the features that are now contained in Quiz Master
  46. were included because users like yourselves told us about
  47. their needs. So feel free to write, fax or call about features
  48. you would like added to the program on the next update.

  50.    Also by registering you allow us to continue creating other
  51. programs you may need for really low prices. Our next endeavor  
  52. is to include graphics images into Quiz Master so diagrams and
  53. pictures can be mixed with the questions, an on screen exam for
  54. student use, and many new programs to work under Windows 3.0.

  56.     So, if you like the program, please fill in the order form
  57. and send it to us with payment. We'll send you the most up-to-
  58. date copy of the program, and put you in our computer
  59. system. Remember in order to get phone support you must be
  60. registered.

  62. Note : If you create question banks for Quiz Master we would
  63. appreciate it if you would share your question banks with your
  64. colleages.  Your questions banks could also be distributed via
  65. Sharware, and you would get paid for all your work.

  67.   The order form can be printed from the DEMO program (select
  68. "Print Order Form"), or it can be copied from Appendix B in the
  69. manual.

  72.    The following files can be found in the qm50 directory.

  74.    I.   *.EXE These are the executable programs
  75.  
  76.         DEMO.EXE is the demo program.
  77.         QM.EXE   is the master menu for Quiz Master. Type QM to
  78.                  run Quiz Master.
  79.         QUIZMSTR.EXE is the Print Exam program called from the
  80.                  main menu.
  81.         UTILITY.EXE is the Utility program called from the main
  82.                  menu.
  83.         MANUAL.EXE is the program to print the manual.
  84.         
  85.     II. *.ASC are the ascii text files of the manual. You can
  86.         erase these files after you have printed the manual,
  87.         along with MANUAL.EXE.
  88.  
  89.     III. *.PRN are the printer drivers for Quiz Master.
  90.  
  91.     IV.  *.PLY are the page layouts used by Quiz Master.
  92.  
  93.     V.   HEADER50 is the blank category listing to read into your
  94.          new question bank.
  95.  
  96.     VI.  *.DAT are the question banks.
  97.  
  98.     VII. *.IDX are the index files used by Quiz Master to quickly
  99.          find the question numbers in the question bank. These
  100.          files are built each time you check a question bank.

  102.     VIII. READ.ME, the file you are reading now. This will
  103.           contain all the latest notices about the program.
  104.  
  105.      IX.  UPDATES.TXT, this file contains all the latest bug
  106.      fixes for the program
