Please Read Carefully:
These are just a few things you should be aware of before
using FireFighter.
The fire report does not take the place of the Provincial
or State Fire report. This is a quick report for your own
Departments use and information.
The program will automatically upper case for you.
This means you can use upper or lower caps and have the
program change everything for you or you can Capitalize as
you want.
The only place it will not capitalize for you is in the
comment sections of your reports.
When you start up the program by typing FF at the DOS prompt
you will find some Sample records to experiment with.
You will have to DELETE or RENAME all these records BEFORE
you start to Enter any of your own.
These records are:
Practice.rpt ------ Practice Reports
Fireinf.rpt ------ Fire Reports
Maint.rpt ------ Maintenance Records
Roster.dat ------ Roster Records
Roster.ndx ------ Index of Roster Records
1991date.dat ------ This will be included when you start the calendar.
If you want to keep these records as Samples then just run
Sample.bat and it will rename the files for you.
If you want to Delete these files then run GetRid.bat
This batch file will delete the proper files so that you can
start entering information.
Now you can restart FF and start to enter your records.
Start with the Roster Records and Enter the name of the Chief
followed by the other ranks. Asst. Chief, Captain, etc.
Make sure your spelling is correct as this could cause a
problem with finding records later on.
Be sure to fill the record using the same format as the
Sample records.
Please read the file FIREROST.DOC!
Get all your records entered the way you like and after you
order the Registerd version of this program, you can copy the
Registered Version right over the Unregistered Version.
Please make a Backup copy of your directory first in case of
mistakes.
If you are using a Floppy disk A: or B: then make a diskcopy
of the program before using it.
Then you will have a spare copy if anything goes wrong.
Please READ the File FIREROST.DOC!
