DIALM is a telephone dialing program which features built in editing
of its phone number files. File size can be specified by the user.
Maximum size depends on available memory and is about 600 entries.
The default is 500 entries.
Multiple data files can be easily accessed. The program also features
rapid searching of the directory file, selection of tone or pulse dialing
and demon (attack) dialing, where a busy number is automatically redialed.
Each call can be logged to a file containing the date, time and length
of the call and up to 10 lines of notes entered while the call is in
progress or at a later time.
Other features include a calendar which can be popped up from the main
menu or the logging screen and an optional screen blanking function.
DIALM was originally written as an exercise in programming for the mouse.
Effective use of the mouse is still a major objective of version 6.0,
but a mouse is not required and the program works well without one.
Several popup menu windows and "123" type menus are used which make
it quite easy to use the program.
Recent additions to the program include printing of mailing labels from
the directory file or from the currently selected entry, printing of the
log file and printing of the entire directory file. Each directory entry
now consists of six 32 character lines: a name, 3 address lines, the phone
number and a note.
Revision 6.1 added the ability to print a return address on mailing labels
and the ability to restore any of the last 10 deleted dialing directory
entries. Revision 6.2 adds a SHELL to DOS feature and variable redialing
delay. In revision 6.3 the dialing prefixes are displayed while editing
or adding telephone numbers to dialing directories. Also, Microsoft's
copyright notice is now included in the startup screen as required for
the distribution of the runtime module BRUN45.EXE.
An "IMPORT" function has been added allowing you to convert ASCII data
files or several types of communications program dialing directories to
DIALM format, and you may now control the sorting of the directory entries.
With revision 6.6, the log file can be viewed while timing a call and
registered users can now eliminate the opening and closing graphics screens.
