DIALING HELP
DATAMAGE will even dial the phone for you. Provided of course that
your machine is equipped with a modem. As the program initializes the
modem at 300 baud almost any modem should work. The commands issued
to the modem are the most rudimentary: dial a number and hang up.
The program will use up to four com ports. Usually the modem is the
only com device connected and is on com one. There are exceptions to
this rule such as a serial printer plotter laser printer etc.
The program sends ATD plus either P or T (pulse or tone) to the modem
then the content of the current field. The modem dials the number.
If your modem has a speaker (most do) it will amplify the ring and the
answer. When the person answers pick up the phone and hit a key to
disconnect the modem. Upon tiring of the ring press a key to hang up.
