  1. "FILE SELECTION HELP"

  3. "The program has read your data disk and displayed a list of files for"
  4. "you to view.  The kind of files displayed depends on  where  you were"
  5. "in THE  DATAMAGE  when you directed the  program to display a list of"
  6. "files.  You could be viewing data, marker, I/O group or macro files."
  7.  
  8. "The program has the capacity to hold fifty files of each type.  Press"
  9. "the  up/down arrow,  page up/down  or  home/end keys to highlight the"
  10. "file of your choice.  Press return to select the file, or the  D  key"
  11. "to permanently erase it from the disk."
  12.  
  13. "Pressing escape,  if you are selecting marker,  macro or I/O  groups,"
  14. "will abort the disk load and return you to the program."
  15.  
  16. "If you are viewing datafiles pressing  escape  enables the program to"
  17. "access files not recorded in sub-dirs off the  directory  holding the"
  18. "programs. You will be prompted to enter the pathname holding the des-"
  19. "ired file.  The way the program will respond to your entry depends on"
  20. "the last character you enter."

  22. "If you have several files in sub-dirs off the root on A: and you want"
  23. "the program to make you a menu of them enter A:, and press return."
  24.  
  25. "If you have only one file on A:,  in the root directory,  and wish to"
  26. "load that file then enter A:\, and press return.  If you record files"
  27. "that way the program WILL NOT make a menu, as there  are no  sub-dirs"
  28. "on A:, and the menu is made by checking sub-dirs for DATAMAGE files."

  30. "If you have more than fifty datafiles on C: you must  put  the fifty-"
  31. "first someplace else, as the program can access only fifty  datafiles"
  32. "on  one  menu.   So,  make a new dir off the root on C:,  and call it"
  33. "DATABNK1, or whatever."
  34.  
  35. "To access a file in the databank press escape from the menu and enter"
  36. "\DATABNK1.  The program will make a menu of the datafiles in sub-dirs"
  37. "of C:\DATABNK1, and you may select your file in the normal manner."
  38.  
  39. "If you are in a hurry and you know the  complete  pathname,  enter it"
  40. "and add a backslash (\) as the final character.   You might enter the"
  41. "full path as  \DATABNK1\INVNTORY\.   Provided there is a path of that"
  42. "name, and it contains a  DATAMAGE  file,  the program will bypass the"
  43. "menu operation and load the datafile."
