BRIEF SUMMARY OF EVENTS
-----------------------
Solar activity was low today. X-rays have been very stable over the
last 24 hours. The largest events were only very small subflares which were
associated with x-ray values no larger than a class C2.2.
Region 6873 (S22W59) and 6879 (N22E11) continued to decay today, while a
slight amount of growth was noted in Region 6875 (N16W53). The leader spot
complex of Region 6873 has separated into two primary penumbral areas over
the last 24 hours which are still magnetically connected. There is no longer
a threat for major flaring from this (or any other) region. As a result, the
Potential Major Solar Flare Warning has been cancelled. Only minor C-class
subflares are expected, with a slight chance for an isolated minor M-class
flare from either Region 6873 or 6879. If decay continues, even M-class
flares will be unlikely.
Region 6884 (S13E05) was the only region numbered today. Prominence
activity has been visible on the east limb today.
Geomagnetic activity has been mostly quiet with isolated periods of
active levels. Conditions should become mostly unsettled over the next 24
hours, with a gradual trend toward increasing levels of activity over the
next 3 to 5 days. A well-placed recurrent coronal hole will be responsible
for this activity.
HF propagation conditions have been normal to above normal today.
Conditions should become mostly normal over the low and middle latitudes over
the next 24 to 48 hours. A trend toward slightly below normal conditions
(particularly over the high and polar latitudes) is anticipated over the next
3 to 5 days.
